Hey! Are you one of those teens who love to write or want to read stories made by teens like you? Well here are a couple sites you should know about.
Teen writing and reading sites:
1) Wattpad.com- Post your stories, fan, comment, vote, and even get featured. Though it is very hard to get your stories popular on Wattpad so most new users hardly get discovered unless they ask other users to read their stories.
2) Inkpop.com- Inkpop connects you with Harper Collins editors where they will review the most popular stories in the search of finding the next big thing in teen lit. You can post your projects (stories), cast your picks (you can only pick five stories), select which stories to put on your watch list if something catches your eye and you want to read it later, and become a trendsetter.
3) Quizilla.com- Create original quizzes, stories, fanfics, lyrics, polls and surveys. Quizilla is a site featured on by Teennick.com and has really fun stories and quizzes on their but they can get quite annoying. Some stories are scattered across the website. Chapter one of a story might be all the way on page five of the website while chapter five might be on the first page so you might get confused…a lot.
4) Story Join.com- Where you can post your story and contribute. Other people are allowed (only with your permission to let them contribute or not or you can just set your story on private if you do not want anyone to finish a part in your story). Users can contribute to an incomplete story and read it along with complete stories but non-users aren’t allowed to read incomplete stories, only completed ones unless they register and contribute to the story they want to read. You cannot create a story unless you have 1] a title, 2] a burp (eye-catching fun and exciting detail of the story that will catch the reader’s attention—basically the summary you find in a back of a book) that is at least 200 words minimum, and 3] a story.
5) Worthy of publishing.com- You can post your story and it is easy to use like other sites but there are some rumors about it being Pre-publishing site (meaning: Posting your book there means that technically you’ve given away your “first printing rights”, meaning no publisher will want it) so BEWARE! Though it does have a couple good stories there just don’t post your own story in that site if you want to get published.
6) Mibba.com –Mibba is a rapidly growing writing community where you can post stories, poems, journals, and whatever else you like.
7) Diary.com- An online diary where you can either write about your life, your friend’s life or a story. You can also organize your life with the calendar, journal, and task planner provided.
8 ) Fictionpress.com- A community with over half a million writers and readers. Post your story or poems under over ten categories. Whether you are a writer or reader this website will be sure to feed your needs.
9) Fanfiction.net-With over 2.2 million users this site is like fiction press’ sister except without any original fiction (as you can see by the website’s title). But there are millions of categories to choose from. It can go from Anime/Manga and cartoons to books and TV shows. As long as you writing or reading fanfics then this website is for you.
10) I am revolution.net- I am revolution or IAR is a creative writing site where you can post stories, poetry, lyrics, pour your soul out into your online journal, or just give some tips and tricks on writing. You can also have discussions over a few categories. IAR isn’t that popular but has some pretty good stories.
11) Booksie.com-Booksie allows you to post and publish your Poems, Short Stories, Novels, and more. Though some people state they have difficulties with their stories after they typed it on the website and published it so it is recommended that you copy and paste your work from Microsoft word.
12) Scribd.com-Upload, download, sell, read, and buy. Scribd is it all wrapped in one. Beware: Of some of the users who upload copyrighted eBooks and the others who download them (but they all usually get caught and reported anyway so no worries. Hey, you can never be too careful).
13) Webook.com- Webook is a writing platform that allows users to write online alone or share with their friends. You can get or give feedback to improve your writing. Users can vote the best for the best work on the site and it can get published on Webook.
14) TeenInk.com- Submit reviews, opinions, poetry, fiction, non fiction, and many other types of writing, even art work. There are also a few contests teens can enter.
15) Livejournal.com-Online community where users can create a journal, blog, or diary. You can read and comment other writer’s work as they can do it to your own.
