I have read the book ‘Count of Monte Cristo’. The author is Alexander Dumas. The story is a revenge story. This is one of the most fascinating revenge stories I have read. The main character in the novel, Edmond Dantes, who is later known as the count of Monte Cristo, takes his revenge in a way which nobody can even understand. Nobody even dreams of suspecting the count.
In the beginning of the story, Edmond is a very simple man. But the success which is gained in his life arouses the jealousy of his evil-minded friends, who hatch a horrible conspiracy to get rid of Edmond. Edmond does not even dream that anybody, least of all his own friends, would conspire against him. And it is a horrible conspiracy as a result of which, Edmond is cast into the dungeons for life itself.
For fourteen years, he suffers. But while in the dungeons itself, he comes to know that his friends are the ones who conspired against him. Because of a vast treasure, he becomes immensely rich. Because of this wealth, he is able to become the count of Monte cristo. Because of this wealth and the fact that now nobody can recognize him as Edmond Dantes, he takes revenge on the people who conspired against him.
The character of the count is highly inspirational. He is a man who has grown beyond his emotions. He is a man who remains unaffected by the silly travails of life. The fourteen years of prison has taught the count about the uncertainties of life. Now the count is like a lion. Nobody can anticipate his next move. His servants are in awe of him and anybody who dares to speak against the count has to later tremble before the count.
This book is wonderful and fascinating. It is worthy to be read. I am sure that many people will love this book.
