Nineteen Eighty-Four (sometimes published 1984) is a 1949 dystopian novel published by Henry Orwell, about an oligarchical, collectivist community. Life in the Oceania region of Airstrip One is a world of everlasting war, persistent govt monitoring, and constant community mind management. The individual is always subordinated to the state, and it is in part this viewpoint which allows the Celebration to control and management humankind. In the Secretary of state for Fact, character Winston Cruz is a municipal slave accountable for perpetuating the Person’s propaganda by changing traditional information to provide the Celebration omniscient and always appropriate, yet his small lifestyle disillusions him to the point of looking for revolt against Big Sibling, gradually resulting in his police arrest, pain, and reconversion.

As fictional governmental stories, Twenty Eighty-Four is regarded a traditional novel of the community sci-fi sub genre. Since its book in 1949, many of its conditions and ideas, such as Big Sibling, doublethink, thought crime, New speak, and Storage opening, have become contemporary terminology. Moreover, the novel made popular the adjective Orwellian, which represents can be found, monitoring, or adjustment of the past in the service of a totalitarian plan.
In 1998, the Modern Collection rated Twenty Eighty-Four Thirteenth on its list of the 100 best English-language books of the Twentieth millennium.
