Creative Writing?

A thought on creative writers and writing.

What makes people creative write? What makes someone a creative writer?

Philosophical Im sure but Im baffled. I try to imagine the lonely middle aged man or woman sat in front of a gleaming computer screen trying to find words to fill their lives with some ‘creativity’. Trying to find the words that make them feel as though they’ve written a good piece. Whether or not the words will be revealed to eyes other than those of the writers is unknown. But they sit there, in silence thinking.  Thinking of what has happened in their life that the words could be of any relevance to creating this personal masterpiece on the glowing screen before them. Screwing up their noses deep in thought. Racking their brains.

What will she write about. An ordinary 40 something that spends her days working at the office of a Lawyer typing endlessly but none of the words are her own and when she gets home at night she is weary from her day at the office but craves to let out her innermost thoughts, desires and maybe even her fantasies.  Perhaps trying to fill an empty void in her life that she had hoped would be filled by a husband or children but never was. Maybe she purposely didnt fill that void with a husband or children so that she could be alone with her computer screen and keyboard and fulfill her life with her real passion, letting herself go in the world of words. Accomplishing a personal ambition of creative writing about anything that might enter her head. The fly walking across the desk could be the enterprise of her next masterpiece. Where had the fly been? where was he going? what was he thinking or feeling?

My conclusion. Creative writing can be anything, anything that may trigger the simplest of thoughts in someones mind could be turned into the most in depth piece of art.  A feast on the eyes as they race across the words written about a certain fly that walked across the computer lit desk as you sat there waiting for an idea to pounce into your mind.  Confusing it may sound to people other than myself, no one else will read the same piece of art in the same way that I will. No one else will write in the same way that I will. Everyone has their own unique way of appreciating the fine art of ‘creative writing’. All the writers can do is tell it how they can. Creatively!
