Is a picture worth a thousand words?
Last night I was looking at my profile page and found it find of boring. All it showed was my stats, not a single thing really about me. So, I decided to try to dress it up and the only way this site actually lets you do that is to add pictures. Little did I know that in doing so it would be considered an article (unless of course I did it wrong). I had looked up “how to put pictures on your profile” in a couple of different ways and all I could come up with was to submit it as media. So I tried it and submitted about seven pictures or my adorable dog, my step-mom’s bird, a bird in a tree and a few of my artwork pictures. Only after I had submitted the last one did I see a comment from a fellow Triond writer. This got me to thinking about whether or not my pictures were actually considered to be an article as that was never my intention.
This was the first time I had tried to put my pictures on Triond with the exception of my article “Dabbling in Water Colors”. Do people do this often? I can only imagine how that would work. I mean, if I were just to submit pictures all day long I could probably have 500 articles a day as I love to take pictures and some of them have come out very nice. However, after looking at my numbers this morning I don’t believe that they actually count as an article but may count towards the number of articles read.
I have to admit that I am not very computer savvy and there are still a lot of things about Triond that I don’t fully understand. I do like the idea of being able to submit pictures as an article as long as they have a good story to go along with it. If I had known my pictures would be submitted as an article I would’ve made sure they had a great story as most pictures do tell a story. Yet, the question is: Are pictures worth a thousand words? What are your thoughts?
