Should you post an article during the holidays?
As I am experimenting on various aspects of writing such as what to write and where to publish, today I am faced with a dilemma on whether I should publish what I have written today, on a Good Friday.
Since it will be a very long weekend starting with Saturday being a usual day for people to be off work, and then Sunday, and we also have Easter Monday. This means official work resumes only on Tuesday, now that’s 4 days people will be in their homes enjoying the holiday.
Back to my topic, if I publish something today, what are chances of getting viewers as compared to posting on a work day?
Its seems there is the good news and the bad news to this:
The bad news is I will lose all the people that rely on their work computers and internet facilities to browse the internet. They will only see my work when they get back to work on Tuesday and by then maybe my post will have lost popularity already.
The good news is that there are those people who browse internet at their homes using personal computers and internet facilities and they will be home a lot this weekend and they will get ample chances to browse and hopefully see my articles.
However, this good news has a few conditions:
- This person should not be travelling away from home for the holidays
- This person should not have constant visitors at his/her place during the holidays
- This person, in case he doesn’t travel or have visitors, shouldn’t be a fan of going out to places like movies, night clubs, water parks and the like
- This person, if all the above doesn’t work on my favor, should have a smartphone or a tablet which he can browse the internet with
With all that being said, I think I can be honest with myself and admit that posting new articles on long weekends like this Easter Weekend could be a waste. But who knows, I will use this article that you are reading now as a research tool to see if posting articles on long weekends is a good idea or not.
Happy Easter to you!
