Writing with Purpose and Intent

A reminder for writers out there that the process of writing, upon completion, should have made some sort of quality contribution to the collective variety of reading material available for prospective readers. If a writer doesn’t agree, maybe he or she should find another field.

Writing: it is the amazing, and sometimes difficult process where we transform ideas that have been bouncing around in our heads to something that is pure, and hopefully easily understood. And this pure substance of thought, once we have it in our grasp, is taken and fused with some medium of permanence, whether it be on paper, electronic media, or otherwise.

In today’s modern  world, where the amount of information available to the average person expands with insane proportion every second of the day, the need for the quality of that information has never been greater. Because of this growing amount of information that we have to sift through everyday, none of us have time to sort through junk information.

What today’s world needs is a new breed of writers. We need writers that are committed to writing with purpose and intent. We need writers that want to make valuable contributions to the collective of information available. We need writers who are just as concerned about the actual quality of the material that they are writing as they are with their own popularity as a source of that information.

Before you sit down to write, know why you are writing, what you are writing about, what you want to accomplish with your writing, and who you will be helping with what you write. Pay attention to the quality of your work, and don’t give the world less than your best.

Write with purpose. Decide what that means for you individually. When you do this, you will not only be writing, but becoming a part of written history. Respect the art, and it will respect and reward you in return.

    I’m with you One-mind.

Too often I’ve seen people get published without a care as to the quality of their writing. And it’s especially aggravating to come across something you think looks alright, buy it, then take it home only to realize it sucks. That’s the worst, to waste money on them when they didn’t deserve it.

You’re right; it’s time that writers everywhere made a stand for quality, not quantity in writing.
