Anytime something is being sold, timing is the underlying consideration. If an article is for sale in the winter and it is summer, the item tends to stay on the shelf. I contend that writing pieces also have a certain core of timing. I’ll elaborate as you read more.

The following is geared around the working person who writes and reads on line. These are my thoughts over a 5 year research. You might agree with some, none or have your own conclusions which I would be more than pleased to read if you comment here.
More people are indoors reading at the computer when it is cold outdoors. Another side of this coin is that there are far more indoor hours because of darkness too. Articles that are written in the winter will probably get more views, comments and in general more attention than in the summer.
Not only do the temperatures and daylight or darkness have an impact on writing, so do the seasons. Just before the holidays, there is a surge on the writing online. People are seeking many tips, ways to do a task, shopping in one form or another and so writing is influenced by seasonal timing too.
Interesting and applicable writing information might be sought as the need arises in the summer. If the writing is waiting online, the author has attention to his submitted piece no matter what season it was written.
Days of the week seem to generate a time for on line writing. This might have something to do with a payday arriving to meet a quota or other monetary reasons for the noticeable changes.
Monday is generally not a good writing day. People that are working, are bound for at least 8 hours limiting the beginning of the week productivity. Writing for the working person probably does not begin until after dinner, the table cleared, dishes are done and the thank you said for the great meal shared.
Tuesday seems more relaxed for the on line writer specifically because the rush of Monday is over. The weekend is 2 days back so the prospect of writing something before mid week spurs the writer to submit some material. The readers are there too.
Wednesday is the mid week day when things seem to be taking up family time not allowing writing or reading in abundance. The exception is if there is a need to know or a strong urge to check the account where one reads or primarily writes. The time is very limited on this day for an author to be read and the composer to submit.
Thursday is more the get caught up day without a really strong presence of writing or reading on the computer web sites. What was not read or completed as written material will be finished on this day. Slight increase from Wednesday since material is being generated more than previous day.
Friday is a huge day and night too, for online writing. Some people designate this day for their working for themselves day for the productivity push on themselves. Lots gets posted, read, composed with fervor well into the morning hours on Saturday.
Saturday has been seen as a volley day since it can be a busy one if no family requirements are made of authors. The writing is almost more in the evening than during the daytime. The after midnight hours pick up considerably for writing and reading that go right into Sunday mornings.
Sunday after noon the Internet is a buzz with reading and writing alike. All seems to slow down and still does not stop until 3AM when it slows considerably.

I agree. More important is the marketing aspect. If you’re submitting your articles to social networking websites, you should know where your readers are, their time zones etc, because wrongly timed ones may never see catch their attention. You should know which days some of the national days/international days fall: women’s day, diabetes day or whatever.
By the way, it is online, not on line.

Very good looks like you did in debth research on this.
I kinda fall through the cracks. Work during the wee hours of the night. Usually on line for other purposes when I swing over to Triond-like putting in stock orders or tracking orders etc. Very little reaal liesure time to do my reading and writing especially at the end and beginning of the year.
Again very good article

Certainly, the timing affects certain types of writing nature, however, I found that there is almost no timing for health articles. People search info online because they are worried about their health. Clicked you “liked it”

Gosh! You have done your research. I have quite a few poems stored up because they are seasonal and I have to wait for the right time to publish them. I tend to take Sundays off if I can though I sometimes do get tempted to go online. A great write.

I really hadn’t noticed a trend but, then you have been writing online far longer than I have. I know around Christmas time it is harder for me to get writing assignments from clients as all the writers are trying to write as much as they can to make money for the holidays.
And you are definitely right about those who work often writing in the evening. That is when I use to do more of writing when I worked away from home.

Time’s a *****. I like to set a timer on myself, put some pressure in order to improve my speed and quality of my work.

I agree with this research.

you’re right roberta. oftentimes, no matter what you write, the timing of when you publish or share it is crucial.
March 19th, 2010 at 3:02 pm
This was great research. I agree that there are some days that it’s easier to write than others. I never realized that it was easier to write articles during the colder seasons.

Great insights on what online writing may appear to everyone, Rob. Thanks for the tips.

I was just thinking this very thing this morning, it is too pretty of a day to be stuck in front of the computer.

Well said.. great writing. Time management is very important in today’s life. I need to learn more about time management.

Thanks for your time and research on this article. You have given good information. As for me I have to write whenever I can find the time. I have noted the times my articles and stories receive more views and it’s usually on the weekends or a holiday. Monday is a poor day for article views.

Awesome and so factual.
Time ,that is what it is all about.
when kept in doors one will have more time to say write.
Also the time difference between countries seams to bring all in to balance as far as commenting goes.

I agree also. I tend to write when I get the chance and do not pay attention to timing. Maybe it affects the overall earnings – I never noticed.

Writing is like a long-term investment. It certainly needs one’s patience. Thanks and liked it.
