Writing Guide for Beginners

This article embarks you on the journey of writing, in terms of basic aspects that a writer should know before writing. These aspects are crucial for those who are new to the writing field. Thus, it is expected that writers would benefit from this guide.

Telling a story is easier. However, writing one is considered to be much tougher, since readers would pay definite attention on the language used, structures as well as the flow of the story. For starters, do not hesitate to write, since the more you write, the better writer you would be. Thus, in today’s article, I would be focusing on the crucial aspects related to writing.

What should I be writing about? How to start? These are two common questions that I usually encounter with people who begin to write. However, the answer just stays the same. Take a piece of paper and a pen. Sit down, and start writing about whatever that comes to mind. This answer could be either right or wrong since writing requires a crucial subordinate which is planning.

If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Thus, the very first step in planning to write involves doing outlines. Outlines represent structured simple points. Make sure that these points that you create have relationships with one another. After laying out the points, write elaborations related to the points. Elaborations are statements, which explain the points outlined in brief. Note that the elaborations should be parallel to the main points.

After you are done with planning, start to write. Begin with an interesting introduction, and use basic forms of language. Avoid complexities in language used. Readers tend to understand basic things compared to complex ones. Apart from that, do not make long sentences, since more mistakes are contained within long sentences. Use your imagination. Try to make your points available to readers as imaginative rotating pictures or slideshows. These would make an article much better since readers are gaining opportunities in understanding what you want to tell them.

Last but not least, make conclusions.  Conclusions refer to the closing paragraph of an article, thus marking the end of the article. Conclusions are intended to be short, about three to four sentences long. Such conclusive terms may be used, such as ‘in conclusion’. After writing the conclusions, check your article. Make sure that the points and elaborations written interconnect with one another. Apart from that, do check your sentence structures as well as grammar used.

Happy writing!
