Recently I said I would not set a goal for myself.
After reading others goals and the wise words of one of my friends who stated it is good to set a goal for yourself publicly, I have decided I will announce my goal.

Keeping It Real:
I am keeping it realistic.
Up to this point, I had not publicly announced a writing goal for myself. Due to my health issues it is unrealistic to set myself up for more than I can handle. Though, in my mind I have had one for a few weeks now.
Your Goals:
I have read many of my friends goals.
· Some have set goals to write a certain amount of articles in 2011
· Some have set goals to make a certain amount of money in 2011.
This one is tricky as we are not in control of how much each article earns.
· Some are just trying to do better than they did in 2010 or previous years.
· Some goals I have read seem far fetched to me but I wish them all success.
Keeping My Goal Real:
While some of you have set very high goals for yourself, I am keeping my goal real
I have no doubt that many of you will make your goals but for me I know what I can handle.
One Article Per Day:
I will be happy if I write an average of one article per day – 30 to 31 per month.
I may not get an article out every day but on a good day I can write at least two which will make up for the days I am unable to write.
I am sure I can have at least 365 articles out by the end of 2011.
One Hour Per Day:
I am setting myself to write for a minimum of one hour per day, five days a week keeping my weekends free.
I know there will be days I am unable to write so publishing more than one article at a time will make up for this.
If I stick to my one hour per day goal I will accomplish both goals easily.
To Date – 2011:
So far I have accomplished my goal. It is January 13th and I have fourteen artciles published.
This article will be my fifteenth and I am going to be submitting more today.
So, In actual fact I am ahead of the game.
Already 20 minutes of my hour is gone. Part of it taken up by putting out my dogs and bringing them back in so it is difficult to keep that hour completely uninterrupted.
My Articles in 2010:
In 2010 I did not set a goal for myself at all.
The Beginning:
My very first articles were published the day I registered with Triond on February 24th entitled My First Article – a Bit About Me and Life with M discussing what it is like to live with Meniere’s.
Those articles did really well, especially considering I only had two friends.
To date Life with M has received 79 views and $0.19 putting it in 15th place in my viewed article list. Not bad for my second article.
That set the ball rolling. I was so excited to see people reading something that I had published.
Published in 2010:
In 2010 I published 149 articles from my starting date – February 24th until December 31st.
That is 149 articles in 310 days which averages out to 0.48 articles per day. Almost one article every two days. Not bad considering I didn’t really start writing until May, not publishing anything in April.
2011 Goal Here I Go:
I am ready to take it on!
Every day for at least one hour I will be sitting quietly at my keyboard not just jotting down things I would like to write about – I have a very full Word file of those but also putting them to print.
Funny enough, with distractions, this article took exactly one hour to write.
I Wish You Luck!
Good luck to you with whatever your goal is and happy publishing!

My mistake “That is 149 articles in 310 days which averages out to 0.48 articles per day.”
I meant I had published an average of 1/2 an article per day being one article every two days.

I enjoyed reading your goals Nina. I wish you success in setting them. I haven’t really set goals for myself I just want to get better every year and so far this month is way ahead of what I did in December.

Good goals, and great keeping it realistic.
My goal is to get 1 dollar per day by half of the year. Then by the end of 2011, i must have a goal of getting $ 2 per day.
I wish you luck here at triond,
vinayak

I have not yet created my to-do list or goals this year. Still planning ^_^

Good luck with your goals Nina!
I recently read somewhere that “Goal is a dream with a deadline”.
I hope I will be able to reach 1 $ per day from Triond within the first 3 months, and another 2 $ from my other writing places and the ads of my blogs. Some time in summer I hope I will be making around 6 $ per day in total-I would prefer 10 $ but I’m being realistic.

Nina…Kudos to you for establshing some personal goals and no one is going to beat you up if you fall short…I enjoy reading you material…if I get bogged down and don’t get to them all, everyday I apologize and will keep trying…I find I am spending more time reading and commenting than I do writing!!! Anyway, I voted that I like this one…thanks for sharing and I wish you well in your writing goals…take care…

Thank you again. I haven’t been writing for a few days now so I have some catching up to do.
Like you jimbo, I sometimes read more than I write! Good for everyone else but not good for us.
I am planning on sitting a couple of hours today at the keyboard… we shall see.

Your goals are more realistic and achievable. I wish you all success in achieving your goal(s)!

Setting goals and making them public helps much better than keeping private in achieving goals faster. As an example, I had set goals for November and made public in an article on Triond. Although I counted my goals a week late, by the end of the month I had completed 56 articles against the goal of 80. It wasn’t bad. So you too will do well with public goals.
When looking back you will notice that you will get faster in your writing. So in reality if you set one article per day goal, you may end the year with two or three articles per day.
Although 2010 started strong for me surging my earnings from $3/dec to $87/may, it had taken me through bad experiences and also ended in bad taste. If you include health related articles in your portfolio, I believe you won’t face the same experience.

Thank you very much Muthusamy! I wish you success with your articles as well.

Thank you Fornis. I know it will be difficult and I have already fallen behind but will do my best as you did with your goal, which to me looks like a success.
Good luck with your goal for 2011!
