Those who experience the most success as writers are always the ones who enjoy what they do.
If I really wanted to, I could get a job and the local supermarket and make $7.00 an hour. But I chose to start writing for Triond instead, which earns me a few cents a day. Why have I chosen to do this? Because I personally believe that the most success comes from doing what you love. Stacking shelves and counting out change earns me money, but my heart truly isn’t in to it. When I write, all thoughts of payment are thrown out the window as I am immersed into the words I see myself typing.
I just started writing for Triond a little over a week ago. As a naive newcomer, my first thoughts were of making a quick buck. However, after my first three days, I checked my earnings and found myself making a whopping one cent. I was downcast, to be honest. But I continued to write about what I was passionate about and posted at least one article per day.
It is now day number ten. Have my earnings soared? Absolutely not. However, I have learned a lesson more valuable than any amount of money. When you honestly enjoy the topic you are writing about, it shows. For example, I was thoroughly dedicated in working on my essay about cancer, and it showed. That article has more views than any of my others combined.
Therefore, I urge all of you who are getting discouraged to not worry about your current monetary compensation. If you truly love what you write about, good things will follow.
