You may be on Triond because you want to publish your articles and make some extra money, but for some people, writing is only an excuse. They are on Triond for various crazy reasons like searching for love, conning unsuspecting Triond users, spamming in boxes and plagiarizing content by republishing it elsewhere!
To you and me, Triond may just be an online publishing site that pays for content but the fact that this site has more than 200,000 users with very few doing the actual reading and writing made me think of the crazy reasons as to why Triond has so many users joining. It is not for writing and publishing alone that people join Triond; it’s not for making money from writing that they join Triond. The following crazy reasons lure some people to this site:
Search for love – One crazy reason why some users join Triond is to look for love. I have seen profiles of some users who have never posted anything, not even a picture of themselves, yet they continue sending messages requesting for love or affairs and claiming to have been attracted to you and me. These men and women know that to use the messaging function on Triond, they have to be members!
Professional spamming – Believe it or not, some people register on Triond merely to spam fellow Triond users in box. They derive unexplainable pleasure from sending useless messages that make little sense to writers and readers. I call them professional spammers but whatever it is they are looking for, these men and women believe they can get it by sending silly messages to thousands of users.
Con-man-ship – There are conmen and women on Triond. Just like those that are found on e-mail service providers such as yahoo and Gmail, Triond has its own fair share of madmen intend of fleecing every little cent from fellow Triond users. They will sent you messages like those you get in your yahoo mail box requesting for help in wiring a large sum of money out of some fourth world country such as Ivory Coast or Nigeria. Woe unto you if you fall into their trap.
Idleness – Believe you me, some people have joined Triond out of sheer idleness. They have nothing better to do and think Triond might be a good place to wile away the hours waiting for something better to do. These idlers add thousands of friends, never do the actual writing but keep on pestering other users to add them as friends in return for that favor which a normal man or woman can’t see.
Plagiarism – Some fellows are on Triond for one reason. They identify a good article, copy it and paste it elsewhere to pass it on as their work. I have come across my article on Bukisa following an alert from Papaleng who noticed it and send me a message. How many more articles have been re-published elsewhere by these losers?
Now you know that Triond is not for writing and publishing alone but also for some other crazy reasons.
Haha, very interesting and true. Talking about searching for love, I ever received messages from strangers asking me to email him/her but I ignored….. once it was so obvious, the person’s name was a female name, she said she was attracted by me and wanted to start a relationship with me, I then edit my profile and mentioned I am a female.
The crazies are on every site you can imagine. The love seekers, sexual predators, con men/women, spammers – there’s no escape it seems. Alas, We can ignore them, report them or whatever method we see fit.
Excellent article. I am glad somebody wrote on this topic. Today I am going to expose someone on here that goes by the name of cnv1215. Go to explorer and click search and you will know what I am talking about. Second, there are those people who have just started writing who think they are going to make millions on triond by reading and returning the favor. It takes a lot of work, commitment and dedication to actually see an increase in your earnings. Trust me, after a year is when I notice the difference. I only support those on my list. I don’t have time for anyone else. It’s very time consuming.
There should be restrictions on this site. What do you think?
Happy that writing can spoil the devil’s workshop (idle brain). But we should control the spammers and copycats (plagiarism) by ignoring their articles and throwing water on their earnings and teach them a lesson that such acts are not paid.
You always amaze me with your out-of-the-box thinking. Excellent perspective.
great share, Ive seen papalengs article also publish in bukisa, i msg him and after 2 days the guy that plagiarize got suspended, i think bukisa is strict about that matter, One of my article also got plagiarize buy someone, no big deal for me, i msg. him and he deleted that content.
I never had the pleasure of seeing those love messages… sigh. One can only dream. Not.
I do, however, receive messages from ‘fans’ I barely knew throughout my time here consistently asking me to join those pesky PTC sites under their bloody referrals. Their persistence is admirable, would be more so for them in doing something constructive with their lives.
Maybe I should send them a link to, I don’t know, a site selling novelty toilet seats out of gratitude for their taking the time to undertake the arduous task of sending such messages to hundreds of respectable users here, I presume?
I joined because I thought I could make a few easy extra dollars, I was not prepared for all the work viewing, commenting, and so forth.. or the BS that goes on sometimes.
The really crazy thing about those “looking for love” pm’s is that they will send the same pm to who knows how many of us, male or female, they send the same request. I am quite suspicious about what these people are actually seeking.
Sorry to hear about someone copying your article. You just got me worried what if someone stole some of my articles too. Though, I doubt that as none is on popular matter …
Anyway, those who join for the last reason deserve some heavy beating (well, con-men and spammers too ).
I really enjoyed reading this. You are right about this. There have been some idleness posters who have wanted me to add them as friends and then I never hear from them again. I don’t add them.
I have received everything you can imagine, spam, been plagiarized. I have had requests for money, marriage and you name it. I don’t let it bother me. I delete and go on to my next article. I understand I had a plagiarized article on bukisa but I didn’t see it. Papaleng told me it was taken off. I couldn’t find the article and don’t know what it was.
Interesting post. It will be happier if we can get comments from other writers on our own articles rather than all those crazy messages that you have listed. Thanks for sharing.
I have experienced these people too, who want to give me millions of dollars or these who just want me to be their lover…I canĀ“t believe that people have nothing better to do…
Good point! …and very informative article as well!
Okay, it’s about 12 am and I’m craking up right now. The funny in this one is up and out through the roof. It’s funny but I quess very true. Val’s comment is a hoot but also good advice, she says she’s going to keep a low profile. Ruby says she’s had request for money and marriage. Oh my. Sexual predators, Lordy no. Well I quess Triond is a microcosm of real life, not to worry.
I’d like to use that word “con man ship” love it, my motto is con games must be exposed today.” The nigerian scam is another pitiful ploy, I get these in my e-mail, the variety is very amusing.
