Writing a Novel–it Isn’t That Easy

What the title says.

I’ve been working on writing a novel.  And I’ve proven to myself and anyone that happens to have known me while I’ve been working on it that it isn’t easy writing a full length novel.  You really do have to know what you are writing about, even if you don’t know where the story is taking you, because it wont seem realalistic if you don’t.  You need to know your characters–what their names are, what their favorite things are, what they do for a living–or else they won’t seem like real people.  Knowing everything about your characters and the world they live in doesn’t mean you put it all in the novel, which can be challenging, but half the fun is being able to leave a reader hanging for a period of time so they want to keep reading.
