The life of a writer and what it takes to be successful.
I have been a writer since I was eight. Since I was eighteen, I have published several books of poetry. One of the biggest challenges I have faced as a writer has been dealing with being my own worst critic.
Alot of people say “Get a real Job” I say writing is my lifeblood and my passion, I have nurtured it, I love it, and at times have been controversial.I believe the passion of a writer bleeds through into not only their writing, but everything else that they do.
I may not have the “Midas Touch” in some people’s opinion but that’s fine so long as my writing reaches somebody. Whatever the reason, whether it’s because they can relate or are struggling with similar issues as I have faced. My goal has always been to share the gift of writing with others so they can share it’s joy.
For instance, have you ever sat down with a book you just couldn’t put down or seen a film you just had to see again because you loved it so much or it inspired you in some way?
That is how I feel about writing, I want my readers to feel the emotion spilling onto the pages.
For my fellow authors, I hope this encourages you all to renew your love for the art of writing. Whether you write poetry, novels, short stories, Haiku, prose or just short articles, as long as you have the passion and the talent, I say keep it up, you’ll make it and thanks to my many inspirations over the years.

Hi jon,
I never excelled at english, and my grammar is terrible!, BUT!….
at school i was told that i had a vivid imagination and many many worlds of fantasy that i could write down for others to enjoy, but i am from a broken home and have been pushed from pillar-to-post, so i became mostly ’streetwise’ and knocked around with the wrong sorts of people growing up, but i have always had a silent passion for writing and reading(mostly writing) and once i even tried to just ‘jot down’ some thoughts i had, and 50 pages later i realised wow! where did the time go?
anyway, i am now 35 years old and cannot punctuate properly in writing, i am also impatient, aaaaand i hink i am dyslectic, but my head is filled with things that i need to write down and express with the world, but i am lost and would not know where to start, basically IS THERE HOPE FOR ME(i also have written poetry)
if there IS hope, where do i begin?(plus i work, where do u find the time?)
any help will be appreciated. thanks.
(i mostly like watching films, they give me inspiration)
peace.

dear concerned, I believe there is hope for anyone if their heart is in it, as far as your punctuation and dyslexia, there’s no reason to worry, just get yourself an editor. how do I find the time? well to begin with I spend about 10 hours a day writing and editing, it’s a hard road. It takes dedication yes, but if it’s your passion in the long run it’s worth it

An editor, hmmmm sounds cool , i will try that.
10 hours a day, hmmm, i could do that also i think.(work and write, i can survive on 5 hours sleep i guess)
sounds a hard road ,but the end product wheather good/bad is worth it i think.
ah, there lyes my problem, passion , i have a passion for lots of things, so i believe i will be a writer later on in life, but i DO appreciate your advice and thank you for replying.
Peace.

Dear Jonathon,
Thank you for your kind comment & for this wonderful piece. You know that many people told J.K. Rowling (Harry Potter creator) that she should get a “real” job and…a billion dollars later… *:)
Best wishes to you!!
Sincerely,
-Liane Schmidt.

Interesting piece. I agree that when it’s in the blood…it’s in the blood. I published my own comic book at the age of 7 with the aid of carbon paper and stencils. I then ’sold’ copies for sweeties!

ahhhh, comic book drawers, i sat next to two extreemly talented comic drawers in my art lessons in school, they used to just sit there and draw and come up with these imaginary manga characters and battle on through the drawings….until the teacher comes around to check what your doing, but absalootly brilliant,……neither of them made it to the big stage, i think one became an accountant and the other a painter and decorator! thats life!
peace.

aaaaah, a mental battle of written words, a meeting of minds on the text battleboards!.
I was going to say, in my life if somebody makes an error i usually correct them THEN point out the correct procedure to follow, no dissrespect timmta , but you have pointed out errors???? , then condiscended somebody ,but then not added the correct correction procedure to follow from YOUR judgement, i personally have ‘ no room to shout’ as i am a complete novice and just wanted to ‘balance’ things.
I accept good wisdom from people in faith and mean no dissrespect for fear of coming across wrongly, thanks.
aaaaaand appreciate good sense help!.
(If you have a more logical approach then share it)
peace.

I believe that I have somewhat of a writing talent and I realize that for a person to be great writer, they must have passion. This article tells nought but truth.
