For those of you guys who have been following what I wrote previously, I mentioned earlier on that I was shortlisted for an interview by a media company. This article is written as a result of what I learnt through the interview recently. There is a fast emerging trend. Do you know what it is yet?

The interview session with this media company was a fruitful one. Although I walked off not knowing if I were hired by the company already, I got to learn something new. Well, probably it is not that new to some people, but to me, it is a fresh insight. And it definitely broadened my perspective towards the field of writing.
The manager whom I spoke to looked like he is in his mid-30s. So yes, he must be from Generation X. Generation X and Generation Y people stereotypically tend to be more tech-savvy. So I was less than surprised when he told me about his company’s ventures. In fact, his company seemed like a full-fledged media company. They even have the talents division, inclusive of photography and video, models and makeup artiste. However, what interests me most is the division in charge of publication.
So here’s it. They are developing a lifestyle based magazine, except, it is going to be 100% online-based. And then, I remembered what I learnt in school. The rise of the new media!
When we talk about traditional media, we are referring to the good old newspapers you bother to flip through each morning before work or on the way to work. However, have you noticed a trend in recent years? Your local newspaper publication has most likely adopted an online version as well!
As I spoke more to the manager, he mentioned about the dip in on-the-shelves magazine sales. Are more and more people turning to online magazines for their regular dosages of gossips, advice, and so on? To come to think of it, the hype of e-books is also getting overwhelming these days, right?
If so, we writers need to start acknowledging this new trend. Writing for Triond, in my opinion, is a good orientation to the online writing business.
And of course, writing for the new media is different from writing for the traditional media. Are you ready to ride on the waves of this new emerging trend?
I am definitely going to!

Well done. In my opinion judging from the way you write, you have what it takes to be the next editor-in-chief. Of course, the present position is occupied so you must be there in the company when the vacancy happens.

This is what we’ve called citizen journalism. Because of technology, every becomes a part of this new media.

Hi, deep blue, that is most flattering. I have more to learn and more experience to gain to even dream of being an editor. Haha. Thanks for the compliments though. I think you write very well yourself. Or should I say fantastic! =)

Thanks for your timely article. I’ve actually been thinking about how Triond has helped my writing today and wondering if there were other challenges I could look into as well. Keep that writing coming in.

There are already several online magazines. Here is hoping for more and that we all get an opportunity to write an article for a few of them. Good luck with your job!
