Online writer’s, especially newbies, have many doubts. I have tried to answer some of the most common questions here.
Any Online writer (especially newbies), will have questions that need answers. But many shy away, or may not know whom to turn to.
GardsJr is a newbie, who became my muse for this article. Only two of his pieces have been published so far, but they are good! He is definitely not new to the field of online writing. He asked me nothing. But seeing that he was new on the site, I remembered something.
Four online writers asked me similar questions. I wrote the answers to one writer, and then copy-pasted the same answers to the remaining three. It was only today (thanks to GardsJr ) that I decided to write an article based on this. I can now direct writers to this article, when they have these question. I am no ‘master’ at this. I share only tips that have helped me.
1. How Much does an online Writer Earn per month?
I have been asked this by all the four people, with a lot of hesitation. When I joined this site, I too had this question in my mind.
Answer: If you write 10 articles and stop, it won’t be of any use. If you plan to make some money out of this, you need to write good articles consistently and regularly. Writing online is a form of passive income. Work hard today, and reap the benefits later.
***Write for a long time to come OR quit right now.***
When I joined this site, I was totally new to the field of online writing. I knew that I would be in my learning period for the first few months. I was wrong. After several months, I am still moving along that learning curve and it is fun! Keep improving and never stop learning.
2. Which articles make the most money?
Answer: Write pillar articles that will last for a very long time. I have discussed which types of articles to write in Writing Articles that Make Money for Life: Writing Essentials 5
You won’t be earning hundreds of dollars due to these. But over time, these are the only articles that will survive. So choose the right topics, from the very beginning.
3. How to increase the number of page visits?
Answer: Use SEO (Search engine optimization) techniques. Details have been discussed in: How to Get Views Even If You are Not SEO Smart?: Writing Essentials 6
4. Commenting on people’s work (Additional tip)
Show genuine interest in people’s work, and see how many people get back to read your work. Commenting does take time, but it is totally worth it. I now have a number of dear friends here (a family of sorts). It is amazing how much you can learn just by connecting with fellow-writers.
***Comment on people’s work because you really care.***

Very helpful advice. I am still surprised by the way that some of my articles earn consistently while others don’t. I think you just have to learn as you go along, and try to write about things that you know and care about.

Rox, you rock! lol. Sound advice here. Pillar articles are key. I have a few, and they do keep earning passive income, very slowly…but surely. Plus the fact they are over a year old is rather mind-boggling.

I agree with everything you said here Rox! I think 1000 page views is equivalent to $1 right?

OMG, Alma says 1000 page views equals $1 – well, I’m getting there! But seriously, you write good stuff for those of us new here, and those of us still learning. Be a life long learner is my motto. Keep up the good work.

Another well thought article. You are more of a strategist than a novelist. Hmmmnnn, I suppose I write more to express myself and in dire situations, think about a not so hard topic to save my day.
