"I have writer’s block." Accepting this means confirming that you are not a writer. When you are a writer before, then you are today too.

“I have writer’s block.” Accepting this means confirming that you are not a writer. When you are a writer before, then you are today too. If you are able to think and express, there is no reason why you can’t write. The imaginary block exists because you believe it exists. The best way is to shake off the thought altogether. However, if you take it seriously, the notion of writer’s block may creep in further and will iron out your imaginative power, and stop flow of words.

If you are unable to forget it even after due efforts, then don’t forget it is time for you to understand the negative feelings. As soon as you start writing you immediately think of the end result about which you are uncertain, because you are uncertain of the quality of your creation. So you stop writing and start worrying which leads to denial of pleasure of writing. Instead of facing the negative feelings you turn your face away from reality. This results in lengthening the period of writer’s block, taking you away from the passionate job of writing and pushing towards frustrating situation. Before frustration sets in you have to undertake curative measures. Fortunately there is way-out to break the writer’s block.

The first step: Train yourself not to contemplate the end of writing before you start it. This will help you to avoid the effects of quality syndrome. Try and end your anxiety about the quality of writing. Do fling away the pressure of writing a high quality matter in very first shot, as you know that the attempt may fail because of writer’s block. Once you break the
shackles of quality syndrome your mind will set free the power of imagination. Write in unison with flow of your mind. Don’t stop even if it is seemingly idiotic. Why to bother? You can moderate it again and again after completion. The concern is to win over negative feelings becoming hurdle in your way. You must write and keep writing.

Second step: The writer’s block signals that you are bottomed up as far as writing ideas are concerned. Therefore, it becomes cumbersome even to write at will. It is difficult to push away obstructions, which is a normal phenomenon every one faces during writer’s block. The remedy is to make your creativity active. The important fact is that it needs some triggers to stimulate the power of creativity. Here are the triggers.

Third step: In first place it is necessary to break the boredom crept in because you are unable to write. Go out of the usual surrounding associated with your boredom at least for few hours. Go to places like garden, zoo, railway stations, malls or any other public place. Observe activities and behavior of people there. Read and observe news. Apart from these there are other sources like enjoying long drive, a family picnic, retiring to country side and so on. These activities may turn on your creative power.

In addition you can interview writers, artists, or those persons, who you think can provide a sort of interesting hints for writing. Reverting back to your own scrape book, visiting unfinished pieces of your work in past. Attempting to accept challenges such as completion of stories, poems, taking part in public speaking is also helpful to get enriched with information. Nowadays, one would be at loss if he is not using internet- the treasure of information.

So much information on mind you are prone to forget it while trying to recall it when writing. To have the information handy make it a practice to note down the events, observations, people’s behavior and such things on pages of a diary. Carry the diary wherever you go. This preparation may force you to go to writing table and urge you to express your notions through writing. Gradually you will overcome the hurdle and at certain point of time you would have forgotten the worrying writer’s block.
