Writer’s Block: All But a Hindrance

My thoughts about writer’s block, an "affliction" that is not always negative.

Writer’s block. Multiple writers of literature or any other form of entertainment will inevitably experience it. Whether they be writing scripts, novels, or even last-minute essays, there is no avoiding its mind-numbing grasp. At the time, one could be at their peak performance, with a clear mind and a full sheet, they may produce truly impeccable work that is well-founded. However, what may have been directly before that was a hair-pulling, daunting, and generally rough process that asks the question, “What am I supposed to write about?” The pen does not make a stroke, nor does the keyboard stroke a letter. It is a mental impasse, which makes one believe that this wound may only be cured by temporal means.

The problem of writer’s block, however, is not what people typically make it to be. They may relax in their chairs or monotonously tap on their desks,  yet the issue is not actually present. On the contrary, it is a simple problem that may be dealt with just as simply. Writer’s block may stimulate a person’s mind, filling it with thoughts and curious ramblings as to what seems to belong on the paper. Though their mind may not be clear, their intentions to continue will certainly assist them. By continuing these queries, they get these shards and fragments out of their minds, clearing their thoughts. It requires the calming of the mind and skepticism for the so-called solution.

Essentially, I see Writer’s Block as something of a challenge. It binds the mind to have scattered thoughts, and yet when the writer surmounts it, it rewards them with the content they need to complete their creation.

(Unsurprisingly, I had writer’s block while writing this, too.)
