Write Good Articles Online Without Effort

Every now and then, writers ask themselves if the articles they are writing online are good enough to be read or even noticed, online. Sometimes, they read about search engine optimization (SEO) techniques and how to use keywords in articles. But for the most part, these tips only serve to constrain their creativity and make writing more of a chore than a relaxing pastime. So what’s the best thing to do when writing online?

SEO Turns Off Most Writers

Writers generally need freedom to be creative and to do what they want with their articles in terms of style and content. Whether it’s writing for a magazine or blog, the ability to express their creative juices is what they get satisfaction out of. If they are given too many rules and guidelines—like those dictated by SEO gurus—they become frustrated and lose their edge. Why would you want to have to count keywords in your article? Why would you want to have to mix and match words to form clumsy key phrases in writing a post? SEO simply just doesn’t add up where the creativity of writers is concerned.

For the most part, SEO is useful when it comes to product- and services-marketing of business websites. The promotion articles that have been SEO-maximized serve to drive traffic to websites through the use of keywords or related terms. SEO basically “fool” search engines into ranking an article high based on the type and density of the keywords used in relation to what’s searched for. SEO is helpful in helping articles show up on top of searches, but a writer does not have to consciously follow it.

Google Writing Advice

According to Google, the secret to getting noticed online, if you blog, for instance, is simply to write relevant content that’s useful and interesting to readers. In other words, the secret is to write about what your audience or target will be satisfied with. If, for example, someone searching for information on paper-mache opens up an article of yours on the subject, he or she should be able to smile or nod positively after reading it and make use of the information you provide about paper-mache.

If you simply pepper your article with a keyword and do nothing to make it worth reading, then you’re in trouble. If people keep running into your work and finding that they’re useless, then, the next time they see your article, they will simply click the Close button. You have to keep in mind that you are writing for an audience and not for the search engines. Google says that if writers write well and produce good content online, their pages will automatically get good rankings. The company never goes into the details but results of Google searches reveal that the top sites do indeed have content that are worth the time of readers.

The Meaning of Good Content

So what does good written content mean, anyway? First of all, your work must be free of errors. If you can’t achieve this, then at least make sure that it has no gross grammar mistakes and it’s written in a manner that anyone who speaks English can understand. While you can always write in your own native language, this will only limit your audience.

Sometimes, a writer can get carried away writing continuously and forget that the article may be too long already. This is a common mistake, although it’s not really a problem. For many people who simply want an article to get to the point, they will not be patient enough to read through one that’s three pages long. Half a page should be enough if you don’t have any more to say, otherwise, it’s okay to add more content.

Writers sometimes type their compositions in MS Word or some other word processing program. This is acceptable, but there’s often the problem of formatting when you copy and paste your work into a blog. Generally, the spacing gets screwed up and you may have to fix this first before hitting the Publish button. Take note of the breaks in your composition. Use paragraphs to talk about specifics and then knit the parts seamlessly. Avoid writing sentences that are too long. Consider that search results only show the first few lines where a keyword appears. Sentences must make sense outright, and that also goes for the title.

Always proofread your work for spelling errors. Anything that you write will appear in searches. If you misspelled “sand castle” and typed “land castle” instead, then you will not attract the right audience for your article and will also waste the time of people poring over your material. An article with plenty of misspelled words will also turn off a lot of people who will simply go elsewhere.

Keep the images you include in an article small in terms of file size. This way, your page will load much faster and your readers will not get impatient waiting too long. Google has also said that it takes into consideration the load time of a page in its rankings. This makes a lot of sense. Who would want to wait when there are others sites and pages waiting to be read?

Write Naturally

Getting good written content out on the Internet is really easy. Just write as you naturally would. You only need to keep in mind a few things and not have to bother with all the details required by SEO. Write in a manner that will make your content stand out. If your content is original and not just derived from just any other source online, then it will get better ranking online. The more you write, the better you will get at the game.
