Why You Shouldn’t Bother Writing for Review Stream

I’ve been writing for Review Stream for the last couple of weeks. They claim that you can write personal reviews of anything and make money doing it.

Have any of you ever heard of Review Stream?  This site claims that you can write reviews of anything and make money doing it.  You can also read other people’s reviews of things before you try them.  Reviews of just about anything – cars, hotels, restaurant, toys, stores, you name it.  I thought it was a really cool idea.  In big bold print on the home page it says “Write Reviews=Earn Cash Current Review Rate is $2.00″.  I thought $2 for every review?  Sounds a little too good to be true.  But of course, I gave it a try anyways.  I wrote 5 reviews.  And waited.  And waited.  I got curious and started reading the fine print on the site.

Firstly, it said that your reviews will either be approved or rejected within 72 hours.  It had been a week.  Secondly, it said that your reviews can either earn the $2.00 fee or you may sell if for a bulk fee if you wish for $0.40.  That’s one fifth of the money offered on the front page.  So, I emailed them and said that I had submitted 5 reviews a week ago and had received no response.  They wrote me back within a couple of hours apologizing and saying they’d get to it shortly.  Two days later, I got my results.

Of the 5 reviews I submitted, one earned $0.40 as I had accidentally checked the bulk rate box.  One earned $2.00 and the other three were rejected.  I couldn’t really figure out why.  They really want your personal opinions on things, not just descriptions of them.  So, I rewrote the articles with that in mind and even wrote a few more.  So now I’m into them for 10 reviews, 3 of which I’ve written twice.

I wait.  Two more are bought at $2.00 each and the rest were rejected.  I’ve never had my writing rejected so much in my entire life.  I’ve always thought I was an okay to mid level good writer.  So the money in my account is now $6.40.  I’m totally fed up and see how I can go about getting paid.

I started reading the fine print.  You have to earn $50 to get paid and you have to formally request to be paid.  Formally request?  $50?  If you have to formally request a payment for anyone you’re working for, you’ve got a serious problem.  Triond automatically pays out every month as long as there is $0.50 in your account.

Review Stream is a rip off.  Don’t bother trying it.  You’ll just get frustrated like me.  Of course, I’m totally stubborn and am going to continue writing until I get that $50.  And then I’m going to formally request that they pay me.  And then, well, I’m never going to talk to them again.  I wonder if I can review their website as one of my reviews.  I don’t think that it would be “accepted”.  Curse those get rich quick schemers that are screwing us writers out of our time and words.  Bitter, who me?  Well, maybe just a little bit.

I never heard of Review Stream, but now that I have I’m sure to stay away from it. Thank you for the sound advice and facts of the matter. Michael

oh deary me :) no not bitter, but soundly angry :)

I knew you would stick to it, go show them.

And your writing is definitely more than average; obviously just too good for them …

    Oh thanks Lucas, I’m blushing!!!

I’ll keep it posted on here as to when I actually get paid. I am nothing if not stubborn.

I’ve written a bunch more reviews and I’m trying to boost up my self esteem for the surely shortly to arrive rejections.

wow… that sounds dicey practice, eh? Myself, I love the whole concept of ‘royalties’ here at Triond. Not being a ‘professional writer’, I like the idea that first off, I CAN and WILL get published, and that my payment, albeit small, will be for the lack of any better term, perpetual.
I might only earn 50-cents or a dollar per month, but will earn that maybe every month, month after month for the same content (assuming that it remains in the general search patterns.) Add to that more stories and reviews with similar results… I start seeing something substantial. A few dozen such stories working for me the same way, month after month… Hmm… that would be nice! ;-)

I’ve heard so many complaints about Review Stream that I’d advise anyone to avoid it like the plague if they’re serious about their writing. You were very lucky to get paid 2.00 that many times. From what I’ve heard, most reviews only get the bulk rate. A $5.00 payout is okay if there’s a real chance of getting there. I started recently with today.com, a blogging site with a 50.00, pay out, but you get 1.00 a day base pay, plus two cents per thousand for page views. They review posts pretty regularly, and the money can build up fast, especially if you have two blogs. Check my profile for the link to my review.

I have joined Review Stream maybe two months ago. I always check the bulk rate box. And for my 12 reviews, I was paid 0.40 each.

But as you have said, I am not going to give up. If I would, then they have earned 4.80 off me.

Oh don’t waste your time with Reveiw Stream. If you do manage to write well enough for their so called criteria, they start giving you problems the minute you’ve made pay out. And God forbid you email them to ask them anything because they are rude! I was told this by a friend of mine but I had to go learn it on my own. I work far too hard at my writing to be treated like that. The only way they are going to stop doing this to unsuspecting people is if more people such as yourself come out publically and warn people to not waste their time. Review stream is a scam and while you might be happy at first, you won’t be within a matter of weeks. They don’t want you to make money.

Who wants to buy it for $2 ?

thestickman – do you want ?

Ancient Aspie – probably you want ?

Just inform us and we’ll be more than happy to sell it to you for $2.

We think, that the reviews written by Paula Mitchell Bentley are mostly low quality, written with the $$$ in mind only, little helpful for the readers.
Paula Mitchell Bentley was informed before the submission, that low quality review could be paid at a bulk rate and AGREED with that ! Why did she agree if she believed her review value more ?

And yes, we’re on the readers side. We care about the useful information, not about the persons with $$$ in mind only.

    Hello..my friends..

I have read all comments ..from Paula, from review stream.com and from the others…well..It’s hot here..calm down..calm down..

    I have checked paula’s review in reviewstream.com..hhmmmm..
My conclusion is review from Paula, that’s not too bad and not too good….my honest opinion is Paula’s review like standart review..do not be angry with me, my dear Paula..! I am not lie..

The main problem with reviewstream.com is their payout for every member.. $50..high payout..not like in CIAO.com..
come on..who can guaranteed to get that amount without banned account ? example like our account almost reach $50 and without warning email, reviewstream.com have banned the account..like fraud click in Adsense..
You can imagine..How tired to write each review every day, 3-6 hours a day..and get rejected..rejected again..and at least..get banned ..without warning email first..see the rule..you will be say like that..Do I true?
Come on..reviewstream’s editor..do no to be cruel..Please respect our work..We are same..looking money from internet..you get money from PPC advertising or other and we get money from your revenue..
I do not know what is meaning “And yes, we’re on the readers side. We care about the useful information, not about the persons with $$$ in mind only” sound like arrogant word..
Can you imagine if there are no one send you..the review any more..?? every netter give you bad opinion in every forum or blog’s comment..
Be fair..and just..Please..give us warning email if we break your strict’s rules…so we do not waste our time..and do not be arrogant..!!!

Um, let me get this straight, ReviewStream is complaining about Paula’s writing and when they write that badly? It seems a bit much!

As for the review, it is honest and informative. What else did you want for $2? It tells me that PayU2Blog is trustworthy and worth writing for, but has sporadic low volume. If you want New York Times quality writing, pay your writers enough to make it worth while.

It certainly looks like Paula is not the only one upset by ReviewStream. I have to admit I took a quick look and walked away. It seems unreasonably hard to get paid and my guess is that they will now try to make sure that she does not get paid somehow.

This is a great article! Review Stream is awful!

I tried submitting about 10 different reviews on completely different subjects and every time after hitting the submit button it would take me to a new page which stated that “my review is not valuable and they are not interested”

I was confused as to how they could instantly know my reviews are not “valuable” so I emailed them asking what makes a review valuable and this is the response I got:

“As you’re informed, we think that your review is not valuable and don’t want to buy it. You can try to make it valuable and submit again or try to sell it elsewhere. We don’t see any reason to share our know-how with you.”

    rigggght. How rude.

Yes Paula, I’m visiting your article several times a day and not only yours. I’m studying web2.0 and have to.
And more I’m studying web2.0, more I’m shocked by so-called writers as you’re.
There are no questions when people are writing crap on forums, boards, etc. They don’t want to be paid for this crap.
But lately, everybody who lost the job or just don’t want to have one, decided that he/she is a writer. And not simply a writer, but a good writer – the writer who should be paid a decent payment.

    You wrote :
“I’ve always thought I was an okay to mid level good writer.”
“that are screwing us writers out of our time and words”

Paula, try to figure out – you’re not a writer. Writers are writing books, novels, daily columns, articles at least. Writers DON’T WRITE REVIEWS ON WEB. Especially reviews like ReviewStream.com shows us.

    YOU’RE NOT A WRITER, Paula !!!
Be honest at least with yourself.

And when you’ll figure this out, it will be easy for you to became a real writer.

I hate those sites that mislead you about how and when you get paid. I just found a site called ComparedBy.Us that pays you up to $2.00 for a review ($1.00 for the review and an extra buck if it is the first). They do have a minimum $20 payout and they pay directly to your Paypal account. I haven’t gotten to $20 yet but I’ll let you know if I have any problems!

  • TechFreddie
    November 30th, 2008 at 4:54 am

You guys will NEVER get paid in Reviewstream. That site is a total scam. They simply get the money from the advertising impressions from the ads they show on their webpages. THEY DON’T GIVE A SH*T ABOUT WHAT YOU WRITE! Come to think of it, who gives a crap about someone’s review about his own dog Booger? Try to read a couple of reviews posted there. They are such low quality reviews (not you Paula) you know from the start that they are just trying to write as many reviews as possible hoping to get their bulk rate earnings to 50 bucks and get it over with.

THE TRUTH: When your earnings are approaching 50 bucks for the much awaited payout, more and more of your reviews will get REJECTED!!!! They will never want you to reach the payout! Some of those suckers who did get the payout, are just the lucky souls that these Reviewstream scammers let go for them to spread the word that the scam really pays! But for the rest …. good lack to you guys!

TechFred – never were truer words spoken. Thanks for putting it in a nutshell.
I tripped across this page when I was googling for my own review on RS. I write exclusively for DooYoo now, mainly for the fun of it although at 0.50 minimum payout I’m edging ever closer to my $50 (probably not in time for Christmas though, natch) I love DooYoo for its honesty, friendship and the fact they email you on everything – with a personal response to any queries you may have. For ‘real’ writing gigs, I go to my account at Elance, or submit to Suite101. I’m studying for a diploma in journalism and need all the practice I can get, both on and offline. I guess that means I, like Paula and everyone else who has contributed to this discussion (maybe not those with the odd habit of forward slashing every apostrophe though, unless their name is Paddy Doyle) can consider myself a genuine freelance copywriter.
Here’s the link to my own views on the subject, based on firsthand experience. It pretty much backs up everything Freddie has put (PS Paula, hope you don’t mind, I posted a link back to this page – lots more readers for you!)

I recommend Epinions. They pay 10 dollars for every 10 reviews you write, and I have been paid by them. Since their payout limit is only 10 dollars, it is easy to reach. If your reviews are rated “very helpful” by a majority of voters (they have people on staff to do this if no one else votes) you get an extra dollar for the review. Reviews are judged fairly- it is very hard to get rated “very helpful” but good writing will be rewarded. My first few reviews were only rated “helpul” but now that I’ve gotten better most of my reviews make the “most helpful” rating- though it’s hard, I’ve found them tough but fair. The only bad part is they only pay you in multiples of 10, and each month the ten count starts over, so you must write at minimum ten a month to be paid for that month. This can be frustrating. However, they are an honest company. And no, I don’t get a bonus by referring you.

Well thank you for this article. I was thinking of writing for them and then searched through Triond using the explore option to see what other Triond writers thought. Sure enough I found, finally, a decent and honest review.

Perfect enough to validate your argument was reviewstream.com’s comment. It was very unprofessional and like you said, rude.

As for Webber’s comments I would just delete them. They sound to be more of a personal attack on your article rather than a sound critisism of the article itself. This would give you plenty reason to erase the moron from the web and take away his voice. Just a recomendation though.

    Take care and good luck.

I have been published in print, and I still get rejected by unimportant little reviewstream. Just a few moments ago I was rejected instantly with an extremely unprofessional “your article has no value and we’re not interested in it.” No explanation, no “we’ll review your article and get back to you.” I just thought I’d give them a try one more time. I think most writers can agree that there are better things to do with our time than guess and stress over what will earn us a possible $2. Try http://www.associatedcontent.com. They pay very well for those with SEO experience.

I just want to say this first before leaving an opinion: I’m not on ANYBODY’S side. And the truth is I’m just looking into some proof with regards to this reviewstream site but when I read this, I knew that I had to share an opinion.

First of all, I read all of the comments here in your article. Second, you’re right. Review Stream should not be trusted. Third, I read your article and I think your review of that website was okay, not good but okay. It would do good with a little bit more description of what the site is exactly besides the fact that it pays people to blog however I do share your feelings of disappointment when Review Stream was being absolutely rude to you. I do not agree with that kind of attitude. I am honestly telling you this because some people wouldn’t want to tell it to you straight (They’re busy saying: ‘Oh, that site is not good!’ or ‘Thanks for warning us about it!’). I know I am a perfect stranger and I do not know you very well however I have read your writing and I must say it wasn’t all that impressive. I am really sorry. I am just sharing an honest opinion and for somebody who wants to become a writer, you should learn to accept criticisms from people you know and don’t know because they’ve read your work.

I do want to assure you, of course, that your grammar has no problems whatsoever. It was perfect but grammar isn’t the only thing that’s important in writing, I’m sure you know that. I saw you arguing with Webber. I do agree that what he said was uncalled for and below the belt, it was a direct insult. But he was being “brutally” honest with you, though you may not like it how he said it, please expect that when you want to be a writer you’ll receive a lot more than that from others. To become a writer, failing is also achieved to become truly successful and accepting criticisms and opinions might hurt you and make you angry but you should happily accept them as an opportunity to making you hone your skills in writing.

Again, I am really sorry. But I just want to be honest with you and I do share your sentiments. I do not take that site’s side and I do not take yours either. I just want to share an opinion. I hope I wasn’t being too rude with you. Thanks. God bless.

    reviewstream should be named REVIEWSCAM

most of my pieces were bought at 2.00 per pop, but upon reaching the 50 bucks payout, those numbscums at reviewstream sent me an email saying they closed my account. reason : i attempted to fraud them by plagiarising one of my reviews. they even mentioned a website , upon looking at the website there wasn’t any review of my product there AT ALL. in fact the website was an advertising website. -_-. really, if i attempted to fraud them i wouldn’t do when when i am close to my payout… it’s seriously a scam.

don’t ever submit anything to reviewstrea,. complete was of my time

You guys are great. I read this article from top to bottom (yep, the comments as well) and I can say just one thing. I am still damn confused.

Why can’t you go straight and say it loud, “Review Stream is one CHEAP WEBSITE”?

Anyway, I am glad that I am not going to join it again. I had a bitter past with them too. Well, yeah, they rejected my reviews too.

  • blakelewis
    June 6th, 2009 at 1:05 am

    To Paula:

I have read some of your reviews. No offense but they are not as helpful like some of the reviews on the site. The readers are yearning for your OPINION and your reviews are meager in terms of your point of view not to mention they are short. I have been writing with REVIEW STREAM and I have earned close to 500$. I have my share of frustrations with this website because they don’t have a clear criteria about what reviews will get 2$ and what gets the bulk rate of .40$.

    To Webber:

Your attack is too personal. Do not embarrass yourself because obviously you are not eloquent. Your english is so poor. Where do you come from?

  • Mr Dprince
    July 23rd, 2009 at 1:00 pm

I just started recently with Review Stream and had three reviews accepted immediately at bulk rate and then one at the $2.00 rate. Now I have six or seven in a row that are not even considered but simply instantaneously rejected upon pressing the button for submission. I know something is wrong with that, If they need only certain niches then they need to inform us so as not to waste our time and energy.

  • M-L
    December 29th, 2009 at 4:12 pm

I wouldn’t write good quality articles for $2.00 a pop either. If anything I quickly jot out a crappy review and hope for the money, if not, oh well. I can do a crap review in 10 minutes and for $2.00 that’s what you are going to get, crap reviews with little to no quality to them. You get what you give out.

I made over $12,000 this year on Associated Content, and I suggest you do the same. No 10 for $10 reviews like Epinions garbage. Epinions also has dreadfully low hits. Some of the top reviewers, and members who have been there for 10 plus years don’t even have hits in the million mark yet, which is just pathetic. They have awful google power, so don’t bother writing superb reviews for $1. That’s an insult to your time.

Go to AC, the start off offers are higher, and increase over time. Plus you will get high offer articles requested by third party companies if you stick to it.

Examiner.com is another site that pays very nicely per hit, so I suggest you try it.

Another is Seed.com, new and looks to be promising.

At any rate, I was laughing out loud to see that an actual employee of Reviewstream came on here to bash you. I have 5 reviews on the site sitting there collecting money… clearly not for me. I’ve never been paid, or got an email with an offer. This was when the site first started up. So they basically took my reviews, are using them, and I’ve never been paid, accepted, or rejected.

So keep my 5 crap reviews and shove it.

The weeber character should seriously learn the native tongue before he tries dishing it. To tell someone they cannot write? LAUGH OUT LOUD. Everyone can write.

I read your piece right here, it flows, kept me entertained and was easy to follow.

Weeber is nothing more than an internet troll, a term he can go and wiki. If he’s so wonderful, and such a great writer, he could spend more time writing than bashing a view that he cannot even understand. How can you call someone a bad writer, when you cannot even write English yourself? How do you even know what is bad?

Want to know what it sounds like to me? An employee.

But ah, I disgress. Take care, and keep to writing, don’t let comment trolls distract you.

P/S I clicked on your ads, so you get paid… regardless of it being dimes or pennies, this is what all writers are after. MONEY. LOL.

I found this article by googling key words reviewstream scam, and this came up on the first page, which means you are doing it right. Screw what they say, it’s all about quality and proper keywords, which clearly you have a strong grasp of.

I just got through reading the entire article, as well as all of the comments/replies to it. Eyes are opened at this point.

This may be a little harsh, but as with a few of you above, I’m simply giving my opinion, and hopefully, it will be a wee bit entertaining for a number of you. And, in all actuality, and with all due honesty, I hope that it ticks ReviewStream.com off to the maximum possible level. I won’t be surprised if it gets a response from them. Only time will tell, we all know how unpredictable they/he/she/it is/are/can be. Lol.

I currently have some $34 +/- dollars in reviewstream.coms account. I have had very little trouble getting my reviews submitted honestly, but it took some trial and error. I wrote each and every review out in Word first, and then got a word and character count for each of them, typed below the review for reference. Then I submitted each one of them, and recorded their results (I did this with approximately my first 20 reviews all submitted the first day I signed up) below the word counts. I figured, by my experiment, that a review had to be approximately 215+ words, the lowest number of words I had accepted was 218. Number of characters didn’t seem to matter much, as long as enough words were present. This will get you past that annoying generic “We don’t want your review, it’s not valuable to us” message/page. Breaking your review up into a number of paragraphs, rather than one large chunk, also seems to help to some degree.

I won’t hold it back, I consider myself a decent writer. I don’t write professionally, but I always excelled in writing, English, Literature, etc. in school, and write for this and that online and off, I won’t go into any details…They (reviewstream.com…) obviously has eyes everywhere….everywhere I tell you!

Anyway. I’m alright. Getting past the psuedo-paranoia, and back onto my main point/s. Everyone can be a writer. Period. Not everyone is great, but it’s one of those traits or skills that can, and will, get better with practice. So, this being said, the comments from those individuals above, not-to-be-named, we all know who (the morons) are, their comments have been stamped with ” VOID (…of any intellect) ” as far as I am concerned. They think because they have given up on writing, or because they are the best in the business (quite obviously the best, I mean, just look at their spectacular skills with the utilization of the English language!) that they can say whatever they’d like, and assume that their opinions will go unchallenged and obeyed by all. Wrong. Duh.

Glad that you got paid for their ridiculous harassing comments, Paula. More than happy to give you the __cents for this long, cynical reply, as well!

I don’t normally get involved with comment-based-argument-strings, and I don’t intend to do so with this post, (as it will be my only post, go ahead, tempt me to write another, LOL) but I had to put my two (or two thousand…It’s getting longer with each passing thought) cents in regarding this website. No pun intended, of course.

I find it hard to believe that this site is able to criticize ANYONE on their grammar or English. Those of you speaking about ‘Native tongue’ and all that jibber-jabber, take a hint. Notice that ReviewStream.com is writtein in English? Not a (to most of us) foreign language? That, my slow-to-connect friends, means that the point of the whole discussion is that we are basing this website, and in turn this discussion, on the English language. So, if you cannot speak it at least to some degree, do not bother posting anything in a discussion about it, and most definitely do not make a passing attempt to bash anothers skills in the use of THEIR own native language. If you don’t want this to become a language barrier discussion, then you are too late, and you brought it upon yourselves. Learn from it.

I would not go into a primarily Spanish or French (or any other, just the first two that came to mind, nothing to it so don’t think on it too long, you might hurt yourself…LoL) discussion, and correct them on their grammar. If English is your third, fourth, hundredth, what-have-you, language… then shut up…. Unless you are able to comprehend the subtle nuances of the written word in this language as well as your own.

Now, off of the fruits and onto the nuts. Back to ReviewStream.com. Anyone who looks at or signs up for a new page, needs to read all of the fine print beforehand, Paula. I’m not trying to be a PITA, or lecture you, and you probably know this, but I thought I had a responsibility to touch on it. I guess they’ve got you on that one. Any time you sign an agreement online, or even sign an email, it can be legally counted as what is generally referred to as a binding contract, but this works in BOTH DIRECTIONS.

Hold on, I’m going somewhere with this. If you read through the ReviewStream.com agreement, you will notice (once I have pointed it out) that at no point does the contract refer to what happens to a members funds if the member is banned before payment has been made (or for all intensive purposes, banned while they have funds in their account that have gone unpaid thus far). Via email, they Reviewstream owner (the nameless, haphazard, ill-speaking degenerate) refers to you from a customers point of view; (And I quote) “…If you don’t like it, you can sell your reviews somewhere else…”. Well. If I do not have the funds from my supposed ’sale’ in my account, then no transaction has taken place, (and you, Reviewstream.com) are in breach of your own terms, and should remove ALL of my/our unpaid reviews from your websit; OR COMPENSATE US, IN FULL, AS PER YOUR AGREEMENT TO MAKE THE PURCHASE FROM US. YOU AGREED TO MAKE THE PURCHASE FROM US WHEN YOU ACCEPTED OUR REVIEW(S).

It says it right there on their home page “We are buying consumer reviews”. Another of their blatant, ridiculous, bold-faced lies. They are FISHING for consumer reviews. If I get to $49.50 and you ban my account reviewstream and owner (and I quote, “the nameless, haphazard, ill-speaking degenerate”), then those reviews (the reviews you’d owe me $49.50 for) are grandfathered into this ban, and I need to be paid for them.

If you think about the way in which their site works, it makes perfect sense. You don’t have a profile, it would be too much trouble for them to keep track of since they’re just going to ban 90% of the new members before pay-out anyway. Also, they mention you can’t combine accounts. Obvious why, when you get banned you could simply combine your two accounts and request payment over and over, they’ve got us there too.

We’ll wait and see, I will make a SINGLE, ONE LINE RESPONSE, to this thread when I get banned, get paid, etc. to let everyone know. But know this, they have to pay some of us, otherwise there would be no one to vote in favor of their site. The few ‘lucky’ (if you can call them that) individuals who get paid are simply walking billboards to scream from the virtual rooftops how great the site is.

“Oh the tangled webs we weave…”

I tried to submit this twice, and found that any time I used quotations or apostrophes I got an error message and got re-routed back here to make another submission attempt for my reply; so I have replaced them with dashes. It was hard to do, I hated it, but it had to be done. Sorry if it distracts you throughout my post.

I dont normally get involved with comment-based-argument-strings, and I dont intend to do so with this post, (as it will be my only post, go ahead, tempt me to write another, LOL) but I had to put my two (or two thousand…Its getting longer with each passing thought) cents in regarding this website. No pun intended, of course.

I find it hard to believe that this site is able to criticize ANYONE on their grammar or English. Those of you speaking about – Native tongue – and all that jibber-jabber, take a hint. If you dont want this to become a language barrier discussion, then you are too late, and you brought it upon yourselves. Learn from it.

I would not go into a primarily Spanish or French (or any other, just the first two that came to mind, nothing to it so dont think on it too long, you might hurt yourself…LoL) discussion, and correct them on their grammar.

Im not trying to be a PITA, or lecture you, and you probably know this, but I thought I had a responsibility to touch on it. I guess theyve got you on that one. Any time you sign an agreement online, or even sign an email, it can be legally counted as what is generally referred to as a binding contract, but this works in BOTH DIRECTIONS.

    Hold on, Im going somewhere with this. If you read through the ReviewStream.com agreement, you will notice (once I have pointed it out) that at no point does the contract refer to what happens to a members funds if the member is banned before payment has been made (or for all intensive purposes, banned while they have funds in their account that have gone unpaid thus far). Via email, they Reviewstream owner (the nameless, haphazard, ill-speaking degenerate) refers to you from a customers point of view, and I quote;

    - …If you dont like it, you can sell your reviews somewhere else… –

Well. If I do not have the funds from my supposed – sale – in my account, then no transaction has taken place, (and you, Reviewstream.com) are in breach of your own terms, and should remove ALL of our unpaid reviews from your websit; OR COMPENSATE US, IN FULL, AS PER YOUR AGREEMENT TO MAKE THE PURCHASE FROM US. YOU AGREED TO MAKE THE PURCHASE FROM US WHEN YOU ACCEPTED OUR REVIEW(S).

It says it right there on their home page – We are buying consumer reviews -. Another of their blatant, ridiculous, bold-faced lies. They are FISHING for consumer reviews. If I get to $49.50 and you ban my account reviewstream and owner (and I quote, – the nameless, haphazard, ill-speaking degenerate -), then those reviews (the reviews youd owe me $49.50 for) are grandfathered into this ban, and I need to be paid for them.

If you think about the way in which their site works, it makes perfect sense. You dont have a profile, it would be too much trouble for them to keep track of since theyre just going to ban 90% of the new members before pay-out anyway. Also, they mention you cant combine accounts. Obvious why, when you get banned you could simply combine your two accounts and request payment over and over, theyve got us there too.

Well wait and see, I will make a SINGLE, ONE LINE RESPONSE, to this thread when I get banned, get paid, etc. to let everyone know. But know this, they have to pay some of us, otherwise there would be no one to vote in favor of their site. The few lucky (if you can call them that) individuals who get paid are simply walking billboards to scream from the virtual rooftops how great the site is.

Oh the tangled webs we weave…

Agreed. Wondereful article and it’s only got worse over there. I didn’t have a hard time with getting them accepted for .40 for a while with a few over $2.00 but after I submitted for the check and went back to try to earn $50 more they completely rejected everything I wrote. It was just 3 things but it made me mad when it said “not interested in it.” RS sucks. I’m glad I got my $50 and am looking for a site a lot like AC. I’m very happy with them.

You’d better stay away from review stream. I wrote about 6 articles and they were my very own opinons and never copied from some other internet source. A few hours later, I get these emails
    “Hello *******,

You certified that “the review was written by you, was not published anywhere and was not copyrighted in any manner” on review submission.

However, we discovered, that the review (or part of it) submitted by you and titled: ,

My money is also stuck in my Control Panel in ReviewStream.com. I wrote a few reviews for them many months ago and most were accepted but in bulk rate so I stopped but I guess many are okay with the bulk rate as new reviews get publish everyday.

I was just about to write my first review attempt for them and then thought to google them to make sure that it would be worth my time and this article was the second thing to come up. I am SOOO glad for your warning. It’s not that I would take one person’s word for it and decide solely on that, but once I read the comments and saw how rudely the company treated you, I felt like I had dodged a bullet. Thank you for the heads-up. So glad that I didn’t waste my time.

Excuse me, but Triond has a strict policy itself of not paying out until you’ve earned $50. They do not pay even if you have “.50″. Also, Triond does not do much in the way of grammar or spelling, so it probably seems harder when you get onto a site that really holds you to a higher standard. And you can’t be “into” Review Stream for anything because you didn’t give them any money. Nobody asked you for those articles, you know, you just sent them.

I’m sorry if you had a bad experience with ReviewStream, but you simply can’t call it a scam. ReviewStream is not a scam. I’ve been paid and they pay within 72 hours.

I have to agree with you on some of your points. It’s true that reviews take up to a week to process.

    However, reviews are rarely rejected.

Hi Paula, I googled ReviewStream and saw this on the first page. I now have $5.00 with them, and as much as I regret leaving those bucks behind, I don’t intend to prolong the agony. I just hope I can get another review site soon. Thanks for this!

I currently have $34+ in my Reviewstream account and I had misunderstood their updated policies and wrote to them to request a payout (thought they had reduced the payout amount to $30) since they reduced the value of the review by $1 (a lot). Upon contacting their “customer service” this is the response I got… After three emails and a few days wait. Read from bottom up and take your own conclusions. Not only they are accusing me but they are also now threatening. The proof is the the emails. The only thing I removed was my email address.

    HAHA, you are a joke.
It’s funny how you think that everybody writing bad things about you just doesn’t want to work on the agreement. I wonder how is it possible for so many strangers who do not know each other possible describe the same experience with Reviewstream.com… And you want to insist that it’s their problem?
You are a (online) company, I work for you, you pay me. Take responsibility for your crappy way of treating people who make you money and for starting this issue when you chose to reply to my email, three days later with a terrible attitude. Continue to do so, pretty soon you won’t be in business or have you not noticed that it has been months since someone shared their experience with you guys in that board, except from some poor guy who just recently joined and probably needs money like everyone else, little does he know what he’s in for. Wow, there’s no need to attack me. I am sorry I wasn’t aware that the current cycle started in March 2010. Your site should definitely state that. As for the amount of reviews I have done this is exactly the reason why I am asking for the payout. Not only that but after I submit the review and it says it was accepted, I get an email saying that it was reversed (?) I am asking for an exception. I won’t do reviews anymore if you agree, please.

    Hello

I was reading on your site and found the following addendum to your policies:

    8. How do I get paid ?

You will be paid through PayPal by the email address the reviews were sent from.
Your account has to reach the minimum amount to be paid.
To calculate the minimum amount to be paid you have to multiply the regular rate on the date, when your first review in the new payment cycle was sold, by 20.
For example, you sold your first review in the new payment cycle on Feb 20, 2011. The regular rate on this date was 2.50 USD. The minimum amount to be paid will be 50 USD. If you sold your first review in the new payment cycle on Feb 25, 2011, when the regular rate was 1.50 USD, the minimum amount to be paid will be 30 USD.

My first review within the new payment cycle was written after Feb 25th at $1.50, therefore from my understanding I do qualify for a payout. I would like to get paid please. The “request payout” button in my account is disabled, so I need to put in this request manually. Please pay to xxxxxxxxxxxx (that’s my registered paypal account)

    I appreciate a confirmation.

Wow, there\\\’s no need to attack me. I am sorry I wasn\\\’t aware that the current cycle started in March 2010. Your site should definitely state that. As for the amount of reviews I have done this is exactly the reason why I am asking for the payout. I have not had the time and I don\\\’t think it\\\’s fair to keep monies held as I don\\\’t know when I will be able to reach the payout. Not only that but after I submit the review and it says it was accepted, I get an email saying that it was reversed (?) I am asking for an exception. I won\\\’t do reviews anymore if you agree, please.

    Awaiting reply.

Your first review in YOUR current payment cycle was sold on March 14, 2010.
You, as a seller, took certain obligations. Please follow them.
We will follow our obligations and will pay you when the agreed amount of products ( reviews ) will be delivered.

P.S. It\\\’s hard to believe, one couldn\\\’t deliver 10 quality reviews during 3 (three) months.

The request payout button in my account is disabled, so I need to put in this request manually. Please pay to xxxxxxxxxxxx (thats my registered paypal account)

    I appreciate a confirmation.

I currently have $34 in my Reviewstream account and I had misunderstood their updated policies and wrote to them to request a payout (thought they had reduced the payout amount to $30) since they reduced the value of the review by $1 (a lot). Upon contacting their customer service this is the response I got… After three emails and a few days wait.

I wonder how is it possible for so many strangers who do not know each other possible describe the same experience with Reviewstream.com… And you want to insist that it\\\\\\\’s their problem?
You are a (online) company, I work for you, you pay me. Take responsibility for your crappy way of treating people who make you money and for starting this issue when you chose to reply to my email, three days later with a terrible attitude. Continue to do so, pretty soon you won\\\\\\\’t be in business or have you not noticed that it has been months since someone shared their experience with you guys in that board, except from some poor guy who just recently joined and probably needs money like everyone else, little does he know what he\\\\\\\’s in for. DO NOT WRITE ME ANYMORE, you rude person! FURTHER EMAILS WILL BE TAKEN AS HARASSMENT.

Sure one can find anything online to blame others. It\\\\\\\’s much easier, than to work on agreement, isn\\\\\\\’t it ?
You had more than a YEAR to deliver the agreed amount of products. Now blame yourself and YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Your way to talk with the customers is terrible.
We definitely don\\\\\\\’t want to buy anything from you, but unfortunately we have to – we\\\\\\\’re following our agreements and that\\\\\\\’s why we\\\\\\\’re still in business.

You said it all. You have no customer service. Please review your own business activity before reviewing any one else\\\\\\\’s, go ahead do a google search on reviewstream.com.
You attacked me. You started with the insults and now threats.
You guys used to be good, have no idea what happened or maybe because I never contacted your customer service before, didn\\\\\\\’t know about that side of you…
Go ahead, steal my monies. That would not surprise me a bit after this unpleasant conversation.

Do me a favor, don\\\\\\\’t reply anymore. I will submit reviews on my time and watch for account targeting.

Have yourself a great rest of day.

We have NO customers and any services. In fact, we are YOUR customer. You offered us your products, we agreed to buy them. You, as a seller, failed to follow the agreement and now you\\\\\\\’re trying to insult us.
If you will continue this way, we have to return all of our purchases you sold us since the last payment.

P.S. Please be informed, that we keep the right to review your \\\\\\\”business\\\\\\\” activity on our site.

Obviously my emails are not spam, there\\\\\\\’s someone on both ends of this conversation. Anyway, I will write when I have time but will definitely watch for targeting my account. Furthermore, you have the worst customer service ever! Must be pretty miserable person on that end and heartless. Obviously your site is not clear enough about the so called \\\\\\\”faq\\\\\\\”. Maybe you need to review your site and your attitude… This \\\\\\\”customer service\\\\\\\” experience pushed me to search reviews on your site and must tell you, not impressed! You guess the word on your horrible customer service have already gone around. FYI I did not blame you, seems like your ignorance won\\\\\\\’t even allow your judgement to work properly. I asked for an exception. Either way, once I reach the $50 payout it will definitely be the last time I will contact you people.

You said you\\\\\\\’ll deliver certain amount of products. Now, you\\\\\\\’re spamming us with the emails, instead of working on our contract.

But furthermore, you\\\\\\\’re blaming us. Blame yourself.

You were informed ahead, that the price is subject to change anytime. Weren\\\\\\\’t you ??
Also it\\\\\\\’s clearly written in FAQ \\\\\\\” To calculate the minimum amount to be paid you have to multiply the regular rate on the date, when your first review in the new payment cycle was sold, by 20. \\\\\\\” You\\\\\\\’re the only person can\\\\\\\’t understand what that means. I recently tried out this website myself, and am very disappointed. Let me first say that I am a published writer with a fairly good fan base, i’ve been published on several different websites, and am currently writing as my full time profession. My area of expertise is music reporting and artist/album review. I saw this website listed on another page, and thought, “that’s really cool! I’ll give it a try, be a great way to earn some side cash!” I read through all the submission guidelines, browsed through some other reviews and generally made sure I understood the rules before filling out my first review. I also read the part where it stated that most reviews would be accepted or rejected within 72 hours. Imediately after submitting my first review, it took me to a page that declared my submission had been declined. Confused, I hit the back button, did some editing and tried again. Same thing. So, I wrote another review for a different product entirely. Same thing. There was no time in between my submission and the rejection page. My reviews were automatically rejected. Don’t know whats up with that, but I can say that I wont be wasting anymore time there.

Wow, thanks for the warning. I appreciate the alternatives posted here. I am surprised by some of the mud slinging going on here. Who would have thought this topic would be so controversial!?

As someone said above, the automatic rejection message people get seconds after submitting a review is based on word-count rather than any kind of quality criteria, so don’t be too disheartened. The poster said reviews had to be over 218 words to bypass this obstacle.

Doing some “research” a few years ago, I found that word-count also played a significant part in whether I got paid at the standard or reduced bulk rate. I forget now what the next “magic” number of words was to get you to that next level, but it’s not hard to experiment with this and find out. You just have to decide whether the effort of writing a long review is really worth the $2 (or $1.50 as I see it’s now been reduced to).

I assume that the quality of the review also has some bearing on all this, but this is of course a much more difficult thing to find out about, given that nobody can tell what each reviewer was paid for their review.

I was lucky that I got paid a few times by Reviewstream, and was relatively happy with the site. Although I too had some very rude messages from them in reply to some queries that I made.

I remember one time I enquired (justifiably I thought), as to when my review might be published, given that they had accepted it many months before. The reply I got told me that it was none of my business when the review was published. They had bought it from me (only nominally of course, as I hadn’t yet been paid!!), and so it was now their property not mine. They basically told me to butt out of my own review!

The only reason I was asking them about this in the first place was that I wanted to publicise my review on another site, and without it being published I obviously couldn’t do that. I guess they lost out on that publicity.

I must admit that I feel really worried after reading your article. I have yet to reach the $30 payout threshold and I’m afraid of not getting paid for all those reviews I have submitted. I’ll keep my hopes up though and update on whether I get paid or not.
