Always remember, there are countless avenues to achieving your dreams. The only obstacle standing in your path is you.
To catapult your writing dreams to the level of greatness you are meant for, you need to “exercise” the way you think in every aspect of your life.
Once you fully accept that thoughts do manifest reality and your environment plays a major role in the outcome of your dreams, you begin to realize just how important adding anything to your life that can keep your mind focused and motivated is something you need to place your attention upon. For this very reason, the majority of books I choose to read are about success and how the power of the mind is your greatest asset.
As a writer, you need to realize and fully embrace the fact that you are the CEO of your “company”.
Writing is a product and company unto itself and you are its driving force. You are the one who’s solely responsible for completing any project you’re working on. While you may have friends and family who remind you of your dreams, you are still the only one who sits down in front of your computer day after day, night after night, transferring your thoughts (=your heart) to paper.
And, just like the CEO of any company you’re going to hear people constantly telling you all the reasons why they’re not going after their dreams full speed ahead. That’s why you need to protect yourself as much as possible from these people. You need to surround yourself with only the best energy and people who are working full steam ahead on their dreams. Eliminate can’t and want from your vocabulary. Turn toward success stories of people who worked hard, believed in their dreams and made them a reality.
When you change the way you view your writing endeavors, you change your world. Your online publishing is your product.
About a year or two ago, I started to think about my online writing pursuits in terms of book publishing.
It had once been a dream of mine to publish a hard copy book of my poetry, for example, and then I started to think about this dream in a different light. After all, a book is typically anywhere from 100-200 pages long and is usually sold for about $5-10’s. As I began to watch my earnings grow, I suddenly realized that if I made $100’s in a month that was equivalent to selling 10 books in a month! I also realized that this was all made possible through my independent efforts and Triond’s incredible launching platform. This is an incredibly humbling and rewarding thought.
Remember it’s up to you to be your best friend, cheerleader and biggest fan. If you don’t wholeheartedly support your work, how do you expect anyone else to?
Through my four years of writing for Triond I’ve made over 3K for my writing efforts, which is equivalent to selling over 300 books. You see more often than not, you don’t need to do things the “conventional” way to reap the rewards. In fact, the more creative you are, the more you’ll ignite and create amazing works of art and further launch your writing career to the furthest reaches of the sky. And, keep in mind that the booming advancements in technology and internet marketing avenues have created limitless pathways toward your success, supporting any creative entrepreneurial ideas you have.
I’ve always felt that if something becomes too difficult, you need to find a way to achieve your goals in a different way.
If the front door’s locked, go through a window, if there are no windows; find a loose nail in the roof. Find your way into the life of your dreams. Open every door of opportunity that peaks your interest and make your dreams a reality.
I once read that money is simply another form of energy, not only do you earn what you’ve given to the world, this return on your investment is often magnified because it grows with time.
Now, when I was thinking about books in terms of each page you publish online, I realized that success truly does have a formula behind it. Money comes to you in return for the good services you give to mankind. The more you give the more you receive. Thus, I started to think about authors such as Deepak Chopra, a world renowned spiritual author whose work I deeply admire. He’s written over 35 books. Now, if you think of that in terms of pages you’ve published that’s approximately 7000 articles. You see, he took the time to give the world 7000 pages from his heart and soul; he spent countless hours sharing his love for the good of mankind. And, as the formula always demonstrates, when you give such a large investment of your time and spirit to the world, the world will then return the gift to you in monetary and intangible gifts.
It’s clear that Chopra’s a millionaire now, because he openly and altruistically gave and continues to give his time and vision to the world and when you follow this methodology you will become one as well. Money is another form of energy, it is neither good nor bad it’s what you do with it that defines its meaning to you and the world.
Wishing for more money (=energy) is a good thing when your heart utilizes it to make the world a better place.
Your efforts have no limits. Again, know that all your dreams are already coming true and these thoughts will create your reality.
I’ve published approximately 800 combined poems, pictures and articles. Keep in mind that even when you do publish 7000 pieces to get to the same production level as Chopra you still need to take into account that he’s doing other things with his life that account for his growing success and notoriety. He does public speaking, TV show appearances, and so forth. The major part of my dreams entails finishing my novel series and online writing is merely an adjunct to these dreams. As I like to think of it, a wise investment in something that has life long growing earning potential.
Some people invest in stock; I invest in online writing.
Keep in mind that while you’re producing your work, it’s about quality as well as quantity.
Just because you publish 7000 articles doesn’t mean that you’ll enjoy anything remotely close to Chopra’s success, if what you publish doesn’t hold a deeply valuable intrinsic value to those who read your work. Your work needs to touch the heart, mind and spirit of those who take the time to read it. Their time is valuable as well, and you need to make sure you’re adding value to theirs, not wasting it with trivial messages.
When you prove to your readers that you sincerely care about their best interests, the value of work begins to multiple before the world’s eyes.
If someone walks away from reading your work and feels as though they’ve been enlightened, inspired to continue to follow their dreams, or feel that they’re a better person because of it, you’ve done this world a great service and your efforts deserve to be rewarded. Anything less than this is just a reason why you need to work harder and create work that truly moves the world.
So, as you steadily continue on your path toward paving the road of your dreams, always keep in mind that most successful people know there’s a logical formula that, when followed equals success.
1+1 will always equal 2.
Talent + Perseverance + Belief + Self Confidence, and so forth = (success) reaching all your dreams
Create product that is valuable to mankind, create enough of it, make sure people know about it, and watch the fruits of your efforts expand and flourish.
Your time is worth all the money in the world.
When you pass this reality onto other people and make them realize it’s not only true for you but for every person in the world, you change lives; you change the world around you for the better. When you remind people that every dream in their heart is possible and attainable, your time becomes a blessing to all who come in contact with you. I once read that every person you meet has something vital you need to know, listen; when you do this your world changes.
So, if you wish you’d published a hard copy book, really why does that matter anymore when you’ve actually sold more copies of a “book” than some self-published authors have and you’ve saved paper (trees, go green!) in the process. It’s important though to also realize it’s not a competition and that it’s wonderful if others do aspire to publish a book, but just know that any thought that makes you feel like your efforts aren’t valuable need to be changed. We all have something so unique and important to share, treat yourself like you would your dearest friend, or like the celebrity or public figure you admire the most and you’ll understand just how important your vision is and you’ll be infused with the energy necessary to achieve this dream.
And, always remember, there are countless avenues to achieving your dreams. The only obstacle standing in your path is you.

Good advice but people also enjoy comedy, biography, novels of all kinds, and true stories. There are as many enjoyable books as you can imagine. And as much as we wish it all our dreams are not attainable. We have to learn to live with our limitations and be happy with the talents we do have.

Dear Tulan,
Thank you so kindly for your comment… I once read a quote that I love and keep close to my heart everyday:
“The only limits in life are those you place upon yourself.”
You have no limitations.
Blessings.
Sincerely,
-Joie Schmidt.

Great article Joie. I agree with you totally that any writing despite the format is an investment, for time alone is a great investment! I’m now nearing 100 articles here on Triond and i have invested up to 8 hours on writing each article (average 2 hours) . To me though i haven’t had any great success when it comes to monetary gain but i have had moderate readership on a handful of my articles. Its that readership and my chance to express myself through the written word that is the reason behind my investment in thought, time and effort. Thank you.

This is a great article and a debatable one too. I’ve had this same idea too about publishing my online writing into book form. You made a great point that we are CEOs of our own writing, and we are creating wonderful works that span the imagination. Something we should be proud of, and that our energy actually translates into satisfaction and income as an added bonus. But books are important too, as much as article writing. I’ve got several book ideas and a few dusty manuscripts I need to revise, and it’s taken me a long time to fully find my voice on subjects that I know about that can actually help and inspire people. I say do both. Keep publishing your online writing and poetry and still endeavor to write that book if your spirit moves you to do so. And above all enjoy what you do and have faith in it. Thanks for this article Joie, your writing is always very inspirational.

Your comments are ALL so beautiful & I’m deeply grateful!!
T.S. Garp,
This article was a metaphor for online writing… so that you can keep publishing articles, just another way to motivate myself and others to keep publishing…
But, I’m currently working on a novel series… I never said there was no value in publishing books, as my paragraph states that whatever motivates you to reach ALL your dreams and goals. One of my dreams and goals is to make well over 100K from my online publishing and then be able to have more time to focus on my novel series. I think it’s amazing that you’ve got many book ideas.
Blessings.
Sincerely,
-Joie Schmidt.
