Why Keeping a Daily Gratitude Journal Will Change Your Life

Turning the intangible into the tangible.

I recently published the article: Why Gratitude is Essential to Your Growing Success.  I wrote that article to inspire others and as well as give me an inspirational boost. I realized I was starting to loose sight of all the blessings in my life and was instead focusing on other things. Already, I’m starting to proactively seek ways to continue to keep this ball of gratitude rolling forward so that it picks up such a consistently solid momentum, nothing can ever make it stop ever again.

Turning the intangible into the tangible.

While it’s clear through studies about success that words manifest reality, other studies have further stated that writing down your thoughts solidifies them in an even more permanent and effective manner. In reality, when you turn intangible thoughts into tangible words, you’re actively making your thoughts a physical fixture in your life. You’re creating something from which nothing existed before, further charging the energy and forces necessary in the universe to combine and create the attraction (i.e. people, situations) necessary to make your dreams come true.

As a writer its great practice to keep a journal and write in it every single day.

Not only will it keep your creative juices percolating on a daily basis, but it will also help strengthen your “writing voice” and make the writing experience become as natural as breathing. The more comfortable you feel with your thoughts, the more it will easily be reflected in every word your write. Your audience will feel the serenity in your words, the altruistic energy in your message and they will be even more deeply blessed by the work you create. Just like an artist must practice singing and playing their instrument of choice, and the athlete must keep in shape, so too must the writer practice and refine their “writing gifts”.

Time management is another critical component to your success.

When you take the time to combine two productive elements in one activity you are ingenuously propelling your steps up the “ladder” of productivity exponentially.

So take your love of writing to the next level today!

Take the time to purchase a spiral notebook, or find a special journal book that you love writing in, or save a tree and start your gratitude journal on your computer.

Give yourself a goal for each daily entry.

For example, start by writing 10 things you’re grateful for, 10 things that you would like to bless in your life, and so forth. Be creative with it, add other positive lists to it as you go, add anything that makes you feel your best and keeps your energy level as high as possible. Focus on all the things that you feel blessed to have in your life.

Remember, whatever you think about the most multiplies limitlessly in your life.

Think about success, miracles, joy, true angels, and true love and you will always be blessed beyond your greatest dreams.

This is a wonderful idea. Sometimes you get so cought up with the little everyday things in life, there’s no time to reflect. Keeping a daily tab should definately help, and I say do it on the computer, save paper :)

Great words of advice. I just want to briefly mention that it is refreshing to know that you actually identify with the material that you publish, or in other terms “practice what you preach.” You have reminded us that your advice is part of an ongoing process of gradual improvement on your own part and that your writing is a personal endeavor as well as an act of sharing your gained experience along the way with the rest of us. On behalf of the many unspoken Trionder’s here I would just like to say, “Thank You” for your authentic invested interest in the success of your readership both in writing/publishing content as well as in life in general- that reality behind the words that inspires or is inspired by, the words. You are an artist as well as a leader. And even though I could complement your work all day, what truly impresses me is the level of authenticity, written in earnest, down to earth, and very human approach you seem to add to your work. This comment applies to the multitude of articles you have published across the web.

    May Peace be With You,

I’ve been keeping a gratitude journal for over a year and it has helped my attitude. Mine is really more of a list and I write at least three things I’m grateful for each night before going to bed. Positive thoughts at that time seem to help me sleep well and have pleasant dreams. I save the big, obvious things like having a roof over my head, food to eat, etc. for days when I can’t think of anything else good and haven’t had to list those things yet.

I have a Gratitude Journal as well as a Prayer Journal and Regular Journal. I don’t write in them on a regular basis though. I know I should. I’d feel a lot better if I did.

    Great article.

Oh man, this is difficult to read. Especially because my therapist this week suggested that I write a letter to dead friend (so that I can move on and pass the stalled stage, to the point).

Your article is helpful in that regards.

I loved your article. I am going to suggest it to my youngest daughter because we’ve been telling her we could have lived in Tennessee because she is having a hard time accepting she’ll be 39 this year. We tell her these things to put it in perspective to something as silly as turning 39. At least she’s alive!

I use to do this when I was younger but for some reason I allowed myself to stop. Thank you so much for this article. A reminder that taking the time to be grateful for the many blessings that are in our lives can help to lift one’s spirits as well as get one’s self on the right track to where they want to be in life. Thank you for this reminder. It’s what I need at this time in my life.

Very good idea Liane. Being mindful whether we are grateful or not helps take stock of our inner conditioning. Being grateful does bring a sense of serenity and light into our lives.
