Why I Write for Triond

A brief overview of my personal reasons for wanting to write for Triond.

Everyone has their own reasons for writing for Triond. For some people, it’s just about the money. For some, it is only about the recognition. For others, it is solely about getting to express themselves without fear of excess criticism. For many though, it is a combination of the three. While constructive criticism is common on Triond, to help people improve their writing style, insults and patronising comments are not. Here are my three main reasons for writing for Triond

Royalties/Earnings

When I first joined, this was my most pressing reason for joining Triond. When I joined, I was in an entrepreneurial mood. I joined a host of money-making sites, but the only one I have stayed with is Triond. Royalties and earnings aren’t my primary reason for remaining at Triond anymore, but it is obviously a bonus. I might not earn a lot on Triond, but even $10 per month is worth more than $100 per year. It will never be a full-time income, but it is certainly a nice little bonus.

Recognition

The recognition I gain from writing on Triond is wonderful. It is great to be known within the community, to be able to talk with people in the forums and to have people reading my work. They don’t do it because I ask them, or because they are obliged to, but because they want to. That is what I am most proud of here on Triond. People are reading (and commenting on) my work because they want to, because they enjoy it, because they consider it a useful use of their time.

Skill Development

Writing for Triond has obviously improved my writing abilities. My vocabulary has expanded, my spelling has improved and I’d like to think my grammar is also a lot more proficient than it previously was. Triond, however, has also improved some of my other skills. I’ve learnt how to give constructive criticism to other writers. I’ve learnt how to start a project (or article) and finish it. I’ve learnt how to dedicate myself to something I enjoy and finish it without someone else having to encourage me. These continued skill improvements are the main reason that I am still at Triond, to see just how much more I can develop my talents.
