My reasons for writing.
There are so many reasons for someone to write. For me, it is simply a way of expressing myself. Whether it is a work of fiction or nonfiction, I always leave a little bit of myself behind.
When I first started writing I did it in order to help me deal with a difficult time in my life. Instead of going to therapy I wrote. Instead of spilling my guts to someone that only listened to me because they were being paid to I wrote. Since then my writing has often helped me to deal with my emotions during difficult times in my life.
I also used to clear my head at night. Some nights when I can not fall asleep I write. It helps me to get my thoughts in my head straight and finally get to sleep. Sometimes the best thing to do when you have a lot on your mind is to get it down on paper.
Whether write fiction or non-fiction, the most important thing to do is to continue to write. You may never be good enough to be professionally published but it helps to clear your mind. So if you love to write just pick up paper and some sort of writing utensil and get your ideas down on paper because only you know where your imagination can take you.
