Why Do I Write?

Writing provides solace to many people.

Writing provides solace to many people.  It is the writer’s ultimate hideout, a nook he visits where the heart meets the mind. I do not consider myself a WRITER in the real sense of the word because I know how exacting this profession can be.  I am a writer in the sense that I LOVE TO WRITE. My knowledge of form and style is not much but why do I continue to write for such sites as Triond and Wikinut?  Well, as I have already said earlier, there is this “itch” inside that pushes me to go ahead and express myself. The ability to express myself in writing gives me a sort of freedom or release from whatever it is that hinders the heart and mind to move on.  There are unique experiences in life that needs to be shared and this is what writing does. When I read the articles of other members on this site, I begin to ask myself, “What am I doing here?” There are so many wonderful writers on this site from whom I can learn a lot in terms of style and form so I am not giving up simply because I could not come close to their excellence. Now let’s go back to the question “Why do I write?” Allow me to enumerate some reasons why I do what I’m doing now—writing:

     1.  I write to express myself.

     2.  I write in order to share my experiences with others.

     3.  I write simply because I love to write.

     4.  I write to make others happy.

     5.  I write for a little reward.(money?)

So there.  You might have your own unique reasons for writing.  I would like to hear them too.  Please share your thoughts as well. I eagerly await them.
