This is a response to Mr. Reilley’s Article 10 Tips to avoid becoming a triond troglodyte.
Even the best writer needs his work proofread, I myself would not at this present time consider myself an excellent writer, but I know how to hold a pen in my hand, and scribble something on a piece of paper. I don’t have a problem with people pointing things out to me, if it in fact is helpful. My spelling may not be perfect and my grammar may not be top notch, but I am convinced that I do have a very creative mind. I have actually written some pretty good pieces. I have read works by other writers with errors, mistakes and things that really could have been written a little better. I know that with time they will improve no need for me to be rude and point it out. I feel that what the writer is attempting to do is get a point across to their audience and express feelings and release some pain. If in fact this is successful then in fact you have done a wonderful job. I have submitted some work with errors and misspelling, I am very hyper and read very quickly and I miss things. I assure you there is nothing stupid about me. My friend Mr. Reilley say that there are only 5% of us on Triond that are actually writers, and most of us really don’t like what the other one writes and we are just being polite. I think that he should probably look for another site, where he can find 100% writers. I think that most of us are friend on this site. The article that he has written is crude and insulting to at least 95% of the writer on Triond, I am writing this for those 95%. Many of us don’t make much from these articles, I don’t think that 95% of the writers care to be insulted by the likes of you. I am the person that prompted Mr. Reilley to write this nasty article, because he left a negative comment on a very personal article I wrote, I wasn’t trying to write the perfect article, all I wanted to do is convey a message and release some built up emotions. I confronted him about it and let him know that, I did not appreciate the comment he wrote. We had some words and now he want to take it out on 95% of the writers. I am the one he has issues with, he shouldn’t be a coward and he should write the article about me. I think that everyone on Triond are great writers, and if we are not then we will be inspired by those that are great writers. Is there some kind of black hole we can throw these evil people in. I am sorry I don’t like my most personal work pissed on just because some people want to go back to school. They do these things without getting to know that person first, tough skin my butt, this has become my new home and if I don’t invite you in don’t bother knocking on my door. We are not being paid mega buck for writing on this site, I take writing seriously but writing on this site is a pass-time for right now. I am going to have to say this, if my work disturbs you, you really don’t have to read it. I am not a starving writer.

We all have our strengths and weaknesses. We write for fun and I know that the more you write, the better you get. If we depended on writing to make a living 99% of us (myself included) would be homeless.

I get your point.

I personally think that 90 % of being a good writer is choosing a topic people want to hear about. If one writes an article with all the t’s crossed, all the i’s dotted, with no spelling or grammatical errors, but the topic has no audience, then…. Is that person indeed a good writer? Or is that person simply well-schooled in grammar and spelling?

We were invited to come here and write on Triond. In all that we do we want to do the best that we can. I enjoy reading Diamondpoet. If we get to write enough we will become better writers and that is our mission.

Diamond, you have your strengths and weaknesses, like the rest of us. So does Reilly. Write what you will, and how you wish. Pay no attention to anyone who rains on your parade. Those comments that irritate can be deleted by you.
One thought, though – having not read the article to which you refer – if a comment irritates you, you might want to save it and read it again later. Sometimes they hold a nugget of truth – even when insultingly written – that can help you. Sometimes that’s why they irritate us so much.
