Writing has become a global phenomenon. Which of the current writing platforms appears to be the best?
Online Writing Platforms
There are many online writing platforms available to the aspiring writer. I have tried online writing sites and blog platforms like Xanga, Live Journal, Blogger, Bukisa, Booksie, Triond, SheToldMe, among others. These platforms do not only provide you with free online service to publish your content but also serve as your gateway to writing success whatever form they may take. Despite the lure of better pay in other sites, however, I always find myself back to Triond which had become my favorite writing site aside from Palawaniana, my personal website.
Making Money Online
Making money online with these sites is not easy as it may seem. It would take lots of time and ideas to be able to post an article and provide you the potential to earn a respectable income. There are those down times when one could lose his/her patience, as income comes in trickles.
But patience has its virtue. Just keep on writing, many writers would say. How does the rain come? Is it not first in trickles? At a certain point, rain will become a downpour, and flood you with a sustainable reward. Just watch out, you might drown. So get ready with a boat, and enjoy the ride of life.
This is a hopeful perspective. But I realize that the greatest reward in this venture is not money, but the opportunity to hone one’s skills as a writer, read and learn from other writers’ articles, and be at home with and enjoy the company of a community of global writers; each with different personalities and interests shaped by their respective cultures. These are the immediate rewards that no money can buy.
Writers Learned to Care for Each Other
It is remarkable how words written in a flat screen can elicit response, and influence even one’s behavior. I have not met personally any of the writers but they seem to be very familiar to me and I respond with care and attention especially to those who are sensitive to comments on their work. And I try to lift someone when his/her writing indicate he/she is down.
Suddenly, those mere boxes of figures and photos were alive in my writing world. And there were occasional acquiantances who would appear for a moment and disappear, sometimes with reason while some for unknown reasons. Social attachments were made and people learned to care for each other, although I saw occasional mudslinging.
This is a different world. And this world is Triond, a global community of writers who have true feelings. Feelings that are very human that make people like me return and cherish the friendship and caring of fellow writers who have become a major part of my life.
A most unique feature of Triond is to be able to write freely about anything under the sun. And for a free spirit like me, I would scrawl anything that comes to mind. And Triond is there to provide me with the limitless opportunity. For me, Triond is the best writing site.

It’s the absolute freedom to write about anything I want to write about that makes Triond perfect for me. The only drawback, the main drawback, is the amount of money a writer can earn on Triond. I’ve been a member of the Triond community since April. I have over 260 pieces in my profile; but no matter how often I publish–six times a week–and no matter how active I am in the community–30 comments a day–and no matter what site I publish on–Webupon–I cannot make $1.00 a day.

An interesting, easy to read article. I like your analogy with the rain coming in trickles, then eventually flood. Yes, Triond is like belonging to a worldwide writing group.

That is beautiful to reead and lissten to, you have captured the true essence of this ccommunity and the reasons we write it is not the money but to hone our skills in writing and explore each others world. Being able to write on this online platform gives us a freedom of topics and genre as well. Well done Patrick

I like the idea that rewards will eventually arrive if a writer is persistent but the best thing for me is getting positive comments from writersI have come to admire.
