With so many places to publish your writing what do you do? Here are my two favorites.
For people who want to write and be read the chore of finding a place to publish your work can be a daunting task. Now if you also want to receive payment for your writing finding the right site just became even harder.
It is possible to make considerable amounts of money from your writing but that might involve selling your stories and articles. That takes a lot of marketing and selling of yourself and your skills. You usually end up bidding on jobs and writing for very little money per article. To make matters worse, you give up the rights to your work.
I have two better solutions for you to consider:
At Hub Pages you create a profile of yourself. Then you are set to go. Each article is created in ordered steps. Start by choosing a title, category, layout and some keywords. On the next screen you can write a summary, choose a group to link your article to and decide how you want ads to be displayed.
That basically takes care of the set-up. Now it is on to the actual writing of your article.
You work inside capsules. Which are provided for both photos and text. Each capsule is worked and saved individually. You also have optional capsules you can add if you need or want them.
After writing and organizing your article, you can – and should – preview it. If it looks acceptable then you simply select the ‘publish’ button and you are done.
Your published article is called a ‘hub’. From your account, you can monitor the activity associated with your hub. You make money from your hub in four different ways: Adsense, Kontera, Ebay and Amazon. By linking to your affiliate accounts you will make a percentage of the money earned from that affiliate.
Hub Pages is flexible, easy to use and some effort is made to keep the site spam free.
Triond is another publishing site I enjoy. At Triond simply sign up, create a profile and get started.
Here, like Hub Pages, you use their publishing editor. Start with your title, followed by a short summary. Next, write your article or poem. Insert links and photos or videos. Choose the category and keywords. You have the option of choosing a thumbnail for your article using a ‘find images’ button. You also have the option of using their ‘get image suggestions’ button to find images for the body of your article. Finally, tick the declaration box and ’submit’.
It’s as simple as that.
Your article then goes to be approved and published. As long as the article is original (an exact copy doesn’t exist somewhere else), and it is not considered spammy or a blatant attempt to sell something, it should get published relatively quickly – usually withing 24 hours or less.
With Triond you make money a few ways. First through page views,(you earn money based on how many times your article has been viewed). Secondly, you receive a percentage of any adsense revenue (if you linked your adsense account to the site), finally, through advertising Triond has placed on the page.
You are able to link your account to Twitter and Facebook so that any new articles published will show up there automatically.
Triond is also easy to use and flexible.
I would strongly suggest you choose one or two sites only to publish your writing on. Like any other job, you need to market yourself. In order to do that, you need to build a community of followers and fans who will be interested in what you write. This requires time and effort on your part. You need to follow and read other writer’s work if you want them to follow you. If you sign up for many sites you will find you don’t have the time needed to socialize properly on any site.
