When Writing for Pay

In answer to some people looking for writing material.

You can always go to events around town that do not cost any money and write what you see. That might be boring by just taking in account of exactly what you see because you that those happens are nothing new and so you think of adding a slant to the story or putting in a personal twist. Such might be the case for an article on an electric car to be finally with reach but you may add how much of the the current car industry is going to go the way of the electric car but if that has already been done than you might try out what it would take to eventually get the oil and hybrid cars to eventually go carbon-free by speaking o marketing investigators working at those companies. There has  to newer topics out there as there always fresher writers with an original way of looking at things.

Editors are there to tell writers that they should look for a new slant on a old and tried article because imagination has its limits when writing about what has already been experienced like frequenting different restaurants or writing about favorite recipes. They tell new writers to do some research in what the magazine writes before pitching so as to know what the market is, the style of writing and what subjects are being handled.

It is not true that editors do not need new writers, I have heard there is always the need for new blood and the way that an editor gets turned off if you were to accept a job and not live up to any starting time or question what the editor has in mind. Having various strengths is good but one should keep extraneous ideas, ideas that do not go with the story to yourself; you would want to show that you are more than capable of taking on an assignment because you can identify with the subject and you are knowledgable about it. If you cannot write one sentence on a subject you are misinformed on or where there is little expertise,  there is little point in writing something ordinary for a magazine where the editor wants to be drawn to a certain paragraph.  That is  important to understand, the person who controls the banner printing will be more likely to ask such a writer to come-up with an article for a given deadline.
