Recently I published an article about how republishing your articles to all the various websites you write for may hurt a writer. This article tells you how republishing some articles may actually help you.
Recently I published an article on why on line writers should not publish the same article to all the different writing sites that they belong to. While I stand by that opinion, especially for those writers just starting out there are times when republishing your articles to more than one site, or even several sites can work to your benefit.
Bad Fit
Some articles fit one site better than another. If you have published an article on a site that it does not gain readership on then republishing that article to a site where it is a better fit will benefit you and your articles life span. In this type of situation republishing is a smart and even necessary move and is highly recommended especially if the article is well written and has merit.
Niche Articles
Articles that fit a certain niche work well when republished to a variety of sites. Articles giving advice on pets and pet care, health, and many other topics are designed for a specific type of reader in mind and republishing them will help establish a larger group of readers for this type of article.
Publishing these kinds of articles to various sites also allows people who may want to read your article more than once to find this article more readily.
Established Writers
Writers who have established themselves on various sites and with the writing community at large can benefit from republishing articles from site to site. They have all ready proven that they can produce large and high quality content and therefore do not need to establish a footing in the writing world.
These writers also have a mix of very original and republished articles on these various sites so there is always something new for fans to read. They do not usually rely only on republished articles for their content to any site.
New Material
Adding new material to an existing published article in my opinion does not constitute republishing in the strictest sense of the word. Any time you improve on a published work by adding new information then you have created a new article at least in part. Often times, reworking an old article can give it new life and new opportunities to be read and enjoyed.
Always keep in mind that writing is a creative process and while they may be certain rules of thumb that may help the beginning writer to get established, thinking outside the box is always good. What works for one writer may not work for another.
Advice on writing is simply that advice. It is meant to help improve your writing skills and your chance of getting read, but is by no means the only way to accomplish a goal.
One of the greatest things about articles giving writing advice or opinions is that it gives other writers a chance to think about what is being presented and decide what is right for their style of writing and what there writing is meant to achieve.

Good advice, Martie, and we have to remember the merits of the old newspaper syndication system (still in use here and there), where a writers stuff was spread far and wide to reach as big an audience as possible. The same is true of the internet, which needs as much good writing as it can get!

Once an article stops getting views for me on one site is when I will republish it elsewhere.
