What Makes a Writer So Great?

Looking at all of the traits that people admire in writers.

Not everyone can be a writer. Many people try, but more than half of them fail. Writing is more than just work, it is an art that a lot of people, writers, can master but very few can make money from the work.

What makes a writer so great is not only the amount of money that they make a month, but the ability to connect with other fellow writers, and inspire them to become an inspiration as well.

People try their hand at writing poetry, keeping a daily journal or diary, writing on a blog and making money from it. However, so many writers neglect these prized posessions because they do not see the value in them. In reality, a great writer will continue to work on their dream even if it means having to wait a while until they see the results that they want.

It takes a lot more than just making a descent amount of money, and having several blogs or websites online. Great writers are also those that when they work, they allow others to work with them, or express their own ideas in their work.

Being a writer is a lot of hard work. Even if you do not work for a client, and you are your own boss, you have to keep to a schedule to make sure you make your own deadlines, and that your work pays off at the end. When writers work on their own, they have twice the stress to make their business work, and become a success since they live off the work that they do.

A great writer is a person that can provide valuable, and much needed information to any fellow writer when they ask them how they go to their success. Not many people can do that.

I think this blog is about being a nice writer, i.e. contributing to the professional development of others. Being a great writer is like being Tolstoy or Dickens, being able to move the world with your words, particulary for good. It is maybe not a function of how much money you make.

I agree with Tom.A great writer is one who writes something great , perhaps a novel or a short story or a poem and becomes immortal just like Charles Dickens or Shelly or Keats.

You’re right in saying writing is such hard work. I write near enough every day and when I’m not writing I’m either blogging or promoting my book in other ways. Currently I am researching my third book while I’m waiting for my second book to be published.
