Writing is truly an art, being able to write interesting stories takes real skill and expertise. A true writer doesn’t have to ponder over what to write, the words just seem to come as they begin to write.
Writing is a bit like acting. When a person is acting they must allow their true personality to come alive when rehearsing a part. Acting is so much more than memorizing lines and trying to portray a certain character. Acting is a compilation of memorization and actually becoming the character.
Writing is similar to acting. While a writer is busy at work ideas and the manner in which something is written many times is based on ones true-life experiences. For example, a writer who experienced turmoil and unrest in their family while growing up; could very easily write true to form stories that actually reflect their past unpleasant experiences and memories of their childhood.
Many writers have the ability to be able to put themselves at a certain place, time, and setting depending on what they are writing about. The person must be able to relate to what they are writing about. A good writer seldom has to think about what to write. Thoughts just seem to come and they are written down on paper.
What makes reading stories so captivating is the excitement, sadness, or tranquility expressed within the context of the story. Mystery stories seem to interest many people because many times they leave the reader to wonder what really happened in the end. Mysteries can leave the moral of the story up to the reader’s imagination. Mystery novels do not have to be explained in order for the story to be considered a good one.
A romance novel may portray erotic situations between two people. These situations can be very well understood and many people can relate to this kind of writing due to the fact that they probably have experienced these thoughts and feelings sometime in their lives.
A story that depicts death or the loss of a loved one can also be well understood and people who have lost loved ones can relate to this type of writing very well.
What makes a writer great is coming up with ideas and situations like no other. Many times a writer’s work may not seem believable but that is what makes it great.
Journalism schools only provide the basic skills to the student, it is up to the student to take the knowledge and write a great story or novel.
