Learn some of the pointers that you can practice to become a successful online writer.
Becoming a virtual professional– or an online writer, to be specific– is a decision you don’t make overnight. It comes with planning, and of course a lot of brainstorming and guts. Now that you have decided to shift careers and tread the path that tech savvy and net enthusiasts choose to follow, you have to remember that it is not an easy job at first. To help you up, here are some pointers you’ll find helpful as you launch your career as an online writing professional.
1. Discipline Yourself – You’re very happy now that you work at home but don’t let the excitement kill the discipline that you once have while working at an office environment. Actually, it is even more challenging to work at home. Since you own your time and no boss checks your work progress every time, you are prone to checking your email, chatting with friends, checking your Faceboook, or updating your tweets–stuffs that waste your time and keep your productivity at a low level. Before you know it, you end your day doing nothing. As much as possible, when you are writing, disconnect your internet so you don’t get tempted to sneak out from your concentration.
2. Talk to Your Family – Working at home plays huge challenges, including having kids distracting you from time to time, household chores keeping you from staying long from your work desk, or phone calls coming every now and again. As much as possible, talk to your family members and tell them that for a certain time in a day, you are at work and that you need this time to concentrate and finish your assignments. Have a room where you can be alone, thus, giving you the space and silence to concentrate. And don’t forget to keep it shut so no distractions come between you and your writing.
3. Work on Hours When You are Most Productive – A lot of writers do write on their peak hours. There are those who wake up early and spend the dawn weaving words into ideas. Busy moms meanwhile choose to write in between their busy schedule, like when they’re kids are at school, in between lunch break and nap time, or in the middle of the night, when it’s quiet and every one is at sleep. Meanwhile, there are those who write like they’re at work, spending 9-5 locked in their room and come out only once they’re through with their day’s assignments.
You can be an online writer. With the determination, patience, and discipline, you can parlay your writing skills to a profession that will earn you grands of bucks.
