Would you consider promoting other written work through Triond? I have and I would like to hear your thoughts about this.
Writing is my biggest love. I have always enjoyed putting pen to paper (or fingertip to keyboard) and I am currently writing a novel. This is the most challenging thing I have ever done. It is also the most rewarding. I have finished the first draft and up until a couple of months ago I never thought I would finish the first chapter!
I write, not because I want to but because I need to. There are some things I just cannot express by speaking or drawing or playing my guitar. Some things I need to write down. Writing is more than therapy for me, it is a way of life.
When I have written my novel I plan to use Triond to publish some “Teaser” material. For one thing it will rouse some interest about my book. I can use the page views and comments to see how popular it is. I also can read the comments people leave to judge how well my material is being received. It will give me a taste of how well my novel will do and it will give me inspiration to write a sequel.
I would be interested to hear if anyone else has used the Internet in this way. I would love to hear from people about this.

Think the idea has merits. However, I’d worry that someone would steal my material before it got to the publisher. I only publish things on Triond that wouldn’t concern me too much if someone stole them and used them as their own.

I was considering “teaser” material when I wrote this, not giving too much away about my book but just whetting people’s appetites and generating some interest before the book gets printed. Thanks for your comment. I hope no scrupulous writer would consider stealing ideas.

It could be beneficial in a way, in order to time stamp your work through the web.

I am in the same position as you, and have been advised thus:
Post your work to yourself and leave it unopened for copyright. Set up a website in the name of the book and use places like Triond to link to it after publication, not leave work on. This was told to me by a published (several times) author.
It is so confusing, so I am following this piece of advice.
Good luck with your novel.
