Triond Success Stories: A Jump in Visit Trends Graph

My daily traffic was averaging 90-100 views but last October 26, 2010, pageviews suddenly jumped to 739.

In this article, I will share to you my Triond success story and the learning I gathered after the event. Please express your own success stories, opinion, reactions or questions in the comments below.

This success story may be a simple matter for Triond veterans who are receiving 1,000 views a day. But this is a big matter for me.

Though I started here at Triond two years ago, I still consider myself a newbie. For the whole year of 2008, I only published poems and didn’t get much results. That is why I went on to hiatus and only started writing again last July 2010. I only consider myself a four months old Triond member.

From Zero to 100 Views A Day

After my hiatus from Triond, I literally started from zero. None of my 19 poems were receiving traffic.

Luckily, when I stopped writing for Triond, I tried blogging and learn a few things about search engine optimization and what topics internet users usually search for. I used what I learned from blogging when I started to write again for Triond.

Among some ten articles I wrote, two became successful. The two articles are “Is Kristine Hermosa a Cast of Noah on Abs-cbn?” and “Winner of Survivor Philippines Celebrity Showdown Leaked?” The second one is more popular and more long-lasting. Both of these articles gave me an average of 100 views a day.

The Jump to 739 Views!

Last October 26, 2010, I published an article that has been solely responsible for the jump of my traffic from 100 views to 739 views. This article is: “November 2, 2010 is Not a Holiday in Philippines”

There are two factors that contributed to the success of this article:

  1. From my blogging days, I know that holiday announcement is a hot topic which is usually searched for in the internet.
  2. It was published in Socyberty which is a PageRank 4 website.
  3. Yes, there are actually three factors. The third is I linked to the article from my high traffic PageRank 0 blog.

The article would have not been as successful if I had published it on my PageRank 0 blog. But I leveraged Socyberty’s popularity on the web to bring more traffic to my blog.

The Power of the Related Articles Section

I must tell you, however, that the 739 pageviews did not only come from that holiday article. Below that article, I created a “Related Articles” section where I linked to four of my other articles.

Only about 500 views were received by the holiday article, and the other 200 views were received by those four related articles. Even the article about not shopping alone which I wrote in 2008 suddenly received views!

If I had not created a “Related Articles” section, then maybe I will only have about 500 views in total for that day. This is why I told you in my article “Do Not Submit a Triond Article Until You Read This” that you should link to your other articles.

Another Important Learning

After receiving that great amount of traffic, I thought to myself: What if I had published this on Bukisa rather than on Triond?

Bukisa’s current index is $3.22 which means for every 1,000 views your article receives, you get $3.22. If I had published that holiday article on Bukisa, I should have at least half of $3.22 for the traffic I received that day!

For that day, my total earnings from Triond is only $0.10. Socyberty’s ECPM is not really $2+ as others say. It still depends.

This is a very important learning for me. The next time I know an article will be this popular, I will submit it to Bukisa first. The main reason I submitted it to Triond without thinking much about Bukisa is because of the October Special. I am still two articles short counting this article in.

Update: On October 27, my total visits is 1,057!
