Triond Must Use Moderators!

Lately most of the content published on Triond is of such a low quality it is really getting embarrassing!

It is not a secret that Triond is getting worse and worse. Triond rank is so low it is a miracle if we get any views at all from an outside source we did not actively promoted ourselves. I can not even remember when was the last time I got a couple of views to an article I did not promote my self! Things are so bad that even when we do promote our work it is not always successful!

And on top of all – it is getting worse every single day. When I compare it to other writing website (such as EC for example) where I barely promote my work and get a nice number of views every day – it makes me wonder why I even bother with Triond anymore.

True, Triond’s owners had almost completely abandoned it, and they barely even invest in one employee (Nathan) on getSatisfy to answer our questions. However, if we will be honest with ourselves the reason why Triond is in such a bad shape is because of its poor content.

Lately I started to read a bit more of Triond new articles and some of the new materials written by some new (or at least new to me) writers. I was sucked! I am not talking about language (mine is not perfect either). I am talking about minimal investment in what you published.

I run into articles that were:

  1. Just one paragraph.
  2. All just links.
  3. All in bold.
  4. Not even in English.
  5. Complete junk.
  6. Unreadable.

And I could go on and on with this list. It seems that people just want to get something published so they can make money, without even making sure that what they published have some kind of value.

With this kind of content no wonder the site is drooping so sharply in all search engines. We are cutting down our own tree!

Triond must publish a good and coherent writing guidelines guide and it must use moderators that will go over people articles and will enforce those rules and guidelines and will delete all those junks articles. This is the only way to improve Triond’s condition.

And no, please do not tell us to “flag” articles since nowadays people do not flag others’ articles, instead they post a comment on it about how wonderful the article is (did you even read it? How could you? It is unreadable!) so the writer will know they were in his article and will return the favor.

Situation is become worse fast, and things must happen soon if we want to reverse it while it is still possible.

If Triond does not want to hire moderators I have another option: Take some of your best and old writers and offer them the job. For every article they will moderate they will get 1% of its profit (low enough for you to afford it, especially since Triond profit will raise). However, they will only get it if no one will mark this article as junk for a good reason.

And for my fellow writers: Please try to write good content that will increase Triond’s rank, instead of vise verses, and yes, if you run into a junk article – flag it. It is the only way for you to increase the value of your own articles.

In addition – If you agree with this idea, please go to the post I published about is in getSatisfy and like it, so Triond will understand we are serious!

I couldn’t agree with you more.I hope Triond began to take some kind of pride in their site and start fixing the problems here. Sometimes I believe this site is run by a couple of people and not a staff.

All good points. The Triond editor has a bug, I think, that sometimes puts entire articles or sections of articles in boldface if you use a heading in the Heading3 font, even if you subsequently delete the heading. The editor isn’t WYSIWYG; the article doesn’t show up as bold in the editor, but it does in Preview. You can fix this problem in the editor by finding and selecting the paragraphs that you saw were bold in Preview, clicking the bold button and then the unbold button. At least that’s worked a time or two for me. I’m embarrassed to say that I haven’t always gone back to fix this problem.

I think this is true anywhere. Even in the market, you can see good things as well as junk useless things. Sadly there are more junk ones than the good ones. Regardless of that, people still go to the market. Because, though few, there are still good ones to choose. In Triond, there are junk ones but there are still plenty of sensible ones, like this post of yours. If I see junk posts, I just ignore it. Yes, flagging might also be helpful. Good job on pointing this out. I could imagine your fiery face while writing this. :)

Strange enough on zoominfo.com Triond’s information says that they have between 50 to 100 employees.

I agree with you. Good idea to be. Triond team should begin to think about it.

This is a good idea. It would be nice to have submitted articles screened by a real person, even if only a portion of the articles – maybe a random 25 – 50% of them. It would help new writers to improve, inspire veterans to put out their best work and overall make Triond a better site.

It is good for a site to have high writing standards but if this happens I am sure my contributions would all be rejected.

I couldn’t agree more. Triond has really gone downhill since I first began. It’s scary and somewhat disheartening to see so many low quality, or self indulgent posts dragging it down.

It doesn’t help that the owners themselves don’t care about what is posted.

It may be time for me to jump ship I think.

Right from when I first posted on here (almost 2 years ago) I’ve seen rubbish articles in such poor English as to be almost unreadable. Often these have a scattering of foreign words in them and I wonder if they are written in another language then shoved through Google Translate or somesuch automatic translator.

Triond is advertised as an awesome blog. I don’t recall it being advertised this way years ago.

I’ve heard the same complaints on Yahoo Voices, Associated Content and other sites.

To be fair, I must tell you that you might like the Yahoo Contributor Network. They only accept high quality articles.

As for myself, I write for enjoyment first.

I understand what you’re talking about, but on some other writing sites they have such strict rules, they basically deny all articles. It seems that you have to be a world renown writer to get published. I think Triond is pretty good for the regular people. But I do agree that they should put more effort into the site and make some needed improvements.

What gets me is reading an article that is terrible or just plain ridiculous and then there are dozens of inane comments telling the author how fantastic it was. As long as we continue to stroke egos instead of share constructive thoughts and critiques those who write poor content will continue to churn it out. I would rather have no comments at all under my articles than read a bunch of crap that clearly indicates the piece wasn’t even read. If you don’t have anything better to say than, “Good job!” I’d rather you didn’t!
