This is about another disturbing incident – when Triond deletes comments.
I do not like to dwell on the negative side of things but when things happen questions need to be asked and answers given. One thing is for sure is that we have to be constantly going back to articles that we, as writers have written. Tonight I realized than an article that I wrote on Webupon entitled “Is Triond an Israeli Site?” was missing all ten comments! I wrote the article so it was not a case of writers removing comments. How do I know that? Am I trusting my memory as to whether that article had comments or not? Well, apart from my memory serving me well I can say “Yahoo” for “Yahoo Cache.” When pages are deleted or altered on the internet Yahoo (and Google) have the information stored in their archives and they keep it there for a limited time. See What to Do If Your Articles are Deleted Accidentally or Unfairly. Google Cache did not help this time around so I tried Yahoo Cache and all ten comments were all there.
First, let us look at the page as it stands now. If you go to “Is Triond an Israeli Site?” you will see the following information:

As you will have noticed it would appear that that article received no comments whatsoever.
Let us go now to the article as it appeared on June 11th, 2012 which was just five days before:

Notice that the second screenshot showing the article five days prior to June 16th, 2012 had ten comments of which I displayed the first two.
Now I did not delete these comments and they certainly were not in a position to delete them. So the source had to be higher than us writers. So the question has to be – “Was that a Triond glitch, a Webupon glitch or censorship?” I know that Webupon was revamped a bit recently as the usual “Ten Most Popular Articles” list on the right is no longer there. I checked most of the articles advertised on Webupon’s main page and strange enough I only saw one comment in a total of five articles. Is that an upgrade or downgrade? What is it that we are looking at exactly? Has this happened to anyone else?

Thanx for the info.

Amazing to know how you knew about that!

Very Strange. Anyone else notice that the Triond earnings have gone extremely done too over the recent past? Hope this is not a trend with either scenario……..

I just commented on “Is Triond an Israeli Site?” Webupon uses a Facebook social plugin. Facebook had yet another widespread service disruption June 15, 2012. It could be a Facebook problem. I think that Triond is hosted by Amazon Web Services in Seattle and that Triond outsources every task possible. Could they be outsourcing monitoring comments to Facebook?

Thanks marqjonz. Every single photo or image on Triond’s sites are stored at Amazon. If you use Firefox and right click on any image and then click “View Image” you will see that the image address starts with s3.amazonaws.com/readers. For instance, the screenshot that I took of my Webupon image from archive.org is now stored at http://s3.amazonaws.com/readers/2012/06/16/10resp_1.jpg. I just realized that you cannot comment on any Webupon article unless you do so through Facebook, Hotmail, yahoo or AOL. Now that is a big change!

Something is going on with Webupon. Today I wanted to leave a comment under the article by my Triond friend Nelson Doyle about the discrimination against Christian messages by Google, but the comment box was altogether missing…:(
Here is link to his article :

The comment box now only allows you to comment via your Facebook, Hotmail, yahoo or AOL account!. See http://webupon.com/social-networks/big-changes-on-webupon/

Yep, it looks official that comments posted on Webupon before mid June, 2012 have been deleted. I checked more of my Webupon articles and I am not seeing the comments that were previously there. This is an outrage! See http://webupon.com/money-making/all-about-triond-badges/. There are no comments there and there were 28 comments until recently! Yahoo Cache currently confirms that.

Even Dale Walker’s article which has been on the Hot Content list since forever no longer has one like or one comment to show for it. when I wrote “Triond Articles That have The Most Likes” at http://socyberty.com/issues/triond-articles-that-have-the-most-likes/ on November 1st 2011 he had 1094 comments and 4164 likes. All that was lost in June.
