I am prompted to write about the so called ‘Triond Forum’ once more not for myself but for another writer who shall remain nameless suffice to say he lives near me in Yorkshire and writes often about Sci-Fi. In case any of my fellow writers didn’t know recently there was a number of puerile infantile idiots that have cloned fellow writers ID This in effect is using your name and profile picture to start a thread on the ‘Triond Forum’
I was very much a victim of this pathetic juvenile school playground behaviour. Whom ever cloned my ID has a problem with me being a Lord and started a thread claiming that I hate other Triond writers and I feel I am better than ordinary people because of my title ‘Lord David Lawrence Banks’ However anyone who knows me will know I was brought up in a working class poor family in London.
My title was a gift from my Fiancé’ in 2007 it was expensive but it also saved some beautiful forest area in Scotland. Many writers have ‘Writing Names’ a pseudonym if you like. However mine happens to be on my cheque books etc as it is my legal name. The abuse I got from fellow writers is almost indescribable! Triond partially closed the loop hole in their forum and the cloning of one’s picture has stopped.
However the immature cloning idiots then were frustrated so what did they do next? They opened up new Triond accounts in a name very close to another writers handle. Mine was wait for it is, ‘Lord Wanks’ there was several references to me and it was clear someone out there hates me! With a passion! I had writers on the forum send me private messages I will cut and paste one for you
“You seem like an ok guy your work is ok if not to my taste. You have to drop the ‘Lord Banks’ bit you are such an easy target you will get in trouble if you continue on the ‘Triond Forum’ with the name ‘Lord Banks’”
Now I don’t know how any of my real friends and readers find this offensive? I did and so did my Fiancé. I decided that I would have no more to do with the ‘Triond Forum’ all I did was go into the forum twice a week to check on the abuse I was receiving, it finally decreased no doubt it will resume after this article! My colleague suffered the same cloning and was deeply hurt. At one point there was an argument started without our knowledge between each other! Luckily I saw sense and all is forgotten.
My colleague has decided to stick with the forum and fight his corner. I admire that but it is a pointless and fruitless exercise! There is on the ‘Triond Forum’ a core of four American writers who think the forum is their’s and it is a members only club and anyone who comments on the forum is fair game! They are so childish they get off on swearing? Most if not all adults know swear words surely? Where is the fun in swearing at fellow writers? I have missed the point in their evil retarded scheme?
Most forum’s have what is called a mediator someone who keeps an eye on the forum and tries to keep it clean from swearing and arguments. Now Triond as everyone knows or should know is mostly automated as in perhaps 80% of work published is not checked for content spelling or grammar. The same applies to their forum you can call anyone every name under the sun! abuse is welcomed! I did at one point try to reason with one of the bullies as in I said,
“You clearly don’t like anyone using the forum except your three friends and abuse any new contributor to the forum. If logic works you should just set up a conference call between the four of you so you can chat away and not abuse anyone? Or pick up the phone and talk to one and other or text on your phones”
For my efforts of reason I got more abuse as in I was scared of swear words! Well for 27 years I worked in garages and believe me there isn’t any swear words I have not heard or used! However I choose not to its impolite it shows a lack of vocabulary and aren’t we supposed to be writers? I have advised my friend to stop using the forum. However he doesn’t like bullies and I agree however unless Triond regulates the forum there is no point in using it surely? The same foul mouthed bullies will jump on you if you dare to comment on a thread!
Now Triond has a reputation of being the lowest of the low as regards content sites. I disagree I have met so many talented writers and damn good friends of mine purely through Triond. It is a shame because for a little effort and banning certain bullies from the forum Triond might encourage more seasoned and good writers? When new writers join Triond they go to the forum and ask questions such as,
“I’m new here are there any tips for networking my articles?”
Its an often asked question but a valid one, the response they get and this is cut and pasted,
“Go away newby! Find out for yourself we had to!”
Is that really helpful is that really necessary? No! if there is such a thing of someone in charge or that mediates the ‘Triond Forum’ please contact me and I will forward the names of the people that are doing so much damage to Triond.

I agree that there are some really mean bullies in the forums. I’ve taken my share of abuse there, and that’s why I don’t even bother going there anymore. It’s good that you wrote this article. Maybe something will be done.

forums are full of bullies that’s why I try to stay clear of them, unless it’s for article promotion purposes!

Yes and they seem to be very upset that I published my Kindle book. I guess being unsuccessful at seeing the writing done on Triond go to the next level is what they desire.
I originally thought the forum was to actually help writers but it isn’t. It is to belittle them so they won’t reach the goal of being published that I have.

Early on I too used the forum format for advice. I have found the majority that seem to control the atmosphere are not only abusive in language, but also vulgar. My philosophy is if you want to be a winner, stick with winners. Braggarts and bullies need not apply. Great article, Lord Banks! You have a title to be proud of.

Yes the word – thread – is a misnomer on the forum, since the thread is broken with the 2nd comment from one of these bullies

I only have time for one this morning and this one caught my eye. First. be proud of your title,” Lord Banks”. I am proud to have a friend who is a real Lord. I checked out the forum when it first started and saw how it was going, I have never been back. I would send a message to the Triond Editors. I have before and they do answer back. I agree they should have someone watching the forum or end it. It looks bad for Triond. I hope you haven’t seen my name on there and if so please let me know. I haven’t been on the forum since it first started. Take care, now back to the spring cleaning.

Don’t feel bad. My husband’s ex found me and has begun harassing me. Seems like a lot of bullies are popping up at different places.

What I don’t get is why Triond hasn’t set up a moderator to clean that mess up. You think that since most of there money is made by the writers who avoid that mess then they should do something to fix the mess those guys made.

That is absolutely terrible. I only checked it out a time or two and I found it not to my liking. Anyone should be able to contribute without being bullied. Maybe Triond should close it since it isn’t being used for the right purpose.

And has the bullying stopped? Of course not.
I was not going to comment here, but hey! It makes no difference. To be fair some forumers do try to stick up for people, but it’s water off a duck’s back. When I told a bully to **F**k Off** he said that was **a good reply for a 12 year old retard!**
The Forum has its share of Bin Ladens. Triond tried Moderators but the trolls ganged up on them and got them removed via **GetSat**.

I wonder if 9-11 somehow caused a lot of bullies to be more open about their abuse?
It seems after the 9-11 attacks bullies have doubled or even tripled to the point that’s all forums are and any intelligent topic gets trashed with either name calling or half responses that are be littiling the OP.
I have *browsed* forums before 9-11 and there didn’t seem to be as much bully activity as there was after.

HOWEVER there is a great writing forum called Writers Anonymous* that’s over at fanfiction.net that allows people to discuss tips and how to NOT write a story in a friendly environment and those kinds of forums are RARE TREATS.
I have learned quite a bit: Their is a Mary Sue test you can take to see if your original character has too much of those qualities to be used as sa general guide.
I found out there I am not the only one that will post a con critic review and get yelled at by emo teenagers who think their story/works is the best and anybody who suggests otherwise is a nazi even though their stories suck badly filled with grammar errors/spelling mistakes and miss use of verb tenses.
I have seen stories where it’s down to not being paragraphed so it’s this long chunk of words that hurt your eyes.
Like I said it seems after the nine eleven attacks bullying and emo people seem to have taken over the internet and booted out the more intelligent people who DO give a crap.
There is also a site called Fiction press . net that allows you to post original stories online but it’s still a lot of the same old crap.
Phew: Sorry if this was long winded but I do not know how to post it any shorter without losing the main point.
It sucks people think I talk too much.
