Of late, Triond cares more for quantity sans quality in the articles that are published in the site.
I can very well remember the publishing of my first article at Triond. Perhaps two years back.Within a few minutes from the submission of my article, it was duly formatted, proofread and then published, in a way that the article was free from any spelling mistake, it could be easily read and it could invite more views.I was not offended. On the other hand, I was thoroughly impressed with Triond and began posting articles at the site regularly.
But, of late, I wonder whether Triond publishes the articles with the same kind of attitude that it had two years ago. Certainly not. Now it cares more for quantity sans quality.
Here are some unmistakable proofs:
1.Though Triond has umpteen number of subsidiary sites, articles submitted by the writers are not properly classified and posted in the relevant sites. It is unfortunate to note that the articles are posted in the relevant site on the basis of the title but not on the basis of the content. For example, an article which had content on legal aspects of divorce was posted in a religious site, just because the title of the article got a word ‘Hindu’.
2.Though it is a welcome sign to see that Triond always encourages new writers to publish their articles without any inhibition, a few of these articles does not meet the requisite standard for publishing, besides being either too short i.e less than 400 words or they contain too many spelling mistakes just because they are not proofread.
3.The new system of badges introduced by Triond is yet another proof. For example, a badge that indicates the number of views and yet another badge indicating the number of articles posted by a particular author. Both badges actually reflect only on the aspects of quantity but not on the quality. Whereas, in sites like Helium, the writers are being rated on the basis of their articles rating and accordingly they are given stars, say one ,two, three or four, which certainly reflects on the quantity as well as quality of their articles. In the Ezine Articles.com, the writers are classified into basic, basic + and then into a higher category, which certainly reflects on the quality and standard of the content of particular writer.
4.Triond does not have any system for ensuring or exhibiting the quality of an article. An article that is displayed in the hot content list does not vouchsafe its quality.Again it is an indicator to show that it is an article that has more comments and viewership.
5.Triond does not have any reasonable classification of the writers who are toiling in the site years together. Nor there is any system or programmes to appreciate or promote the quality content in the site. For example, in sites like Indus ladies.com, every month best blogs are selected and rewarded in a befitting manner. Certainly such rewards will be stimulating and encourage the writers to post only quality content.
6.Triond does not have any real mechanism to find out the spurious contents of an article. Hence, all and sundry are being published. It is unfortunate to note that Triond does not have experts with specialized knowledge to filter such spurious contents. Even if articles with spurious contents are spotted out and commented upon by genuine experts, they are simply winked at by Triond for fear of losing such writers!
Though I am skeptical about that change will come at Triond overnight, still I strongly believe that Triond too will become a quality content site at least in the near future.

In life, it is always good to take the bull by the horn. To tell the bitter truth. Your comments are good and fearless. However, I’m I love writing. I’ll keep writing on Triond.

Triond is a publishing site. Its not a ’submit your masterpiece’ site! The second important note is that writing is an art. Being art its the writers choice in the manner they wish to present thought through the written word! An article can be 1 word only, if the writer choses it to be so. Since when did writing length ever equate excellence? Good article though.

I agree with you Silent Wasp. But a writer has unlimited rights and privileges only in his own blog or book. But not in a site like Triond which has prescribed a minimum word limit of 400 words per article.A law maker cannot be a lawbreaker.Anyhow thanks for reading and commenting.

I think they are using some kind of software for proofing and submitting now a days. I agree to the fact that more strict rules can be put in place to filter low quality articles.

Thank you Jaison for your comments. In particular, in observing minimum word limit of 400 words, there are many slips. As far as proofreading is concerned, the writer is more responsible and accountable than the site. Thanks .

Just remember you can be your own proofreader and editor. You can take control of what you publish here. Great share.

To Carissmi :
I too agree with you.As far as proofreading and editing is concerned , the writer is more responsible and accountable. When a writer fails to do them and post his article rather carelessly in a site, is it not the responsibility of the site to reject the article or send it back for review?

I think you put forward some valid points but on the whole I think Triond does a very good job. I do feel however that poets are being pushed out a bit. I never see poems on Hot Content any more and wonder why that is.

To Christine:
Poems are only meant for the sheer enjoyment of the readers at Triond. That is why articles from Authorspot, religious journal etc had not been considered for 10 % increase during August,2010.Thanks for your views.

Whatever you say, I hate the Triond (and the idiots behind it) for blatantly manipulating our earnings by writing softwares. Thanks to those glitches that exposed the scene.
I am happy to learn the fact that they are cheating (secretly). Otherwise I would have had to accept that all we are really worth is some pennies. Now I know that our true worth is better found elsewhere.
September 7th, 2010 at 3:13 pm
I agree with you that the quantity are the most important part for them rather than quality articles. so they can earned more…mmm…perhaps that another glitches will coming again on this month..then, Triond have to pay us an ‘extra money’ from their own pocket again…lol

I liked this article and i totally agree with you about articles being posted in the wrong categories- it really is quite annoying.
But as others have said Triond is a site where you are able to post pretty much anything… and that is what happens.
There are advantages but many disadvantages to this.

You have raised valid points. There’s still hope for change I believe.

Thoughtful article.

I assume you mean “badges” not “batches”? Totally agree with everything you have written. I have been harping on about the quality of articles for years.

I like this site, great job.

I just keep reading .

Thank you Chambo for pointing out a spelling mistake of badges.Got it corrected.Thank you once again.

Good article and definitely a good point. However, quality goes hand in hand with readership. So I assume that as far as quality of writing goes, poorly written pieces will be subject to a diminished audience. I agree that sometimes articles end up in the oddest places, but disagree about required length. Too often, on Triond, ezine and other sites, I have read articles that are word-stuffed to make the proper count. Phrases like “I have often found that” instead of “I’ve found”. Word count should not overwhelm the content and the biggest factor in quality should be readability. Word counts, keywords and so on should always take a back seat.

My friend, it is true that Triond cares for quantity more than quality but then who doesn’t? The more the articles, the higher the number of advertisers. Google does not look at quality, it just places relevant ads on available pages. Assuming there are three Google ads per page, 1000 pages will have 3000 ads while 100 pages will translate to 300 ads. The former makes better business sense than the latter. Triond not only publishes but also wants to make money, it is a business my friend.
September 9th, 2010 at 9:34 pm
Thank you all for your comments. My concern was that quality should not be sacrificed for the sake of quantity. That’s all.
September 9th, 2010 at 10:35 pm
very nice
September 10th, 2010 at 1:55 am
I agree with you. But you have to understand that quantity brings business/money.
September 10th, 2010 at 5:25 am
Hopefully, even if we write a lot, we can still keep the quality in our articles. Thanks for sharing your point of view!
September 10th, 2010 at 7:06 am
Ram, Triond ultimately decides where to put an article. The writer can only recommend which category they want their article to go into.
September 14th, 2010 at 12:36 am
I totally agree wit You in this field.
great article
