Top Six Rejected Authors

Do not let the writer in you die for just a mere rejection. Just keep on writing. Here are some examples of top Authors who were once rejected. We should get inspired from their struggles and continue writing until the end….

Do you have a yen for writing? Still searching for that thumbs up gesture? Don’t just destroy your precious works if rejected. Here is a list of top authors who were once rejected, but they did not lose hope and continued writing.

Agatha Christie:

Her Book titled The Mysterious Affair at styles was rejected. The reason: It was not suitable for a publishers list!

Herman Melville:

Moby Dick (1851) reviewers panned this classic tale as “so much trash belonging to the worst school of Bedlam literature”.

Stephen King:

Stephen King is “The god of horror literature” for me. But even his Carrie received rejections. Most of his publishers were not interested in such kind of science fiction which dealt with negative utopias.

F Scott Fitzgerald:

The Saturday Review rejected The Great Gatsby (1925) saying “The Great Gatsby is an absurd story, whether considered as romance, melodrama or plain record of New York high Life”

Ayn Rand:

The fountainhead (1943) received rave reviews due to its power of expression. But surprisingly, the publisher added, “I wish there were an audience for a book of this kind. But there isn’t. It won’t sell!

William Shakespeare:

Hamlet (1601) was once called by the great Voltaire as “A vulgar and a barbarous drama, which would not be tolerated by the vilest populace of France, The work was a drunken savage. “

I think Voltaire was quite jealous with the works of Shakespeare, what do you think?

Great article! I believe that JK Rowling had her work rejected about 12 times before “Harry Potter” took off!

    Blessings.

    Sincerely,
