Another “self-help” article about “living in the moment.
Who wants to be rich? Not I. I’d rather be making art. From what I hear, there are many reasons to make art. Art for art’s sake, to inspire, to make money. Not that making money would be bad, on the contrary, I’d prefer my art to make millions, but if it doesn’t……..oh well. It’s not the end of the world as we know it. Either way, I feel fine.
As of now, I can barely pay rent. I’ve got goals to get my ideas into the world, and make a few dollars at the same time. My full time job at the moment is writing, and honestly, I suck at it. I’ve got a book of poetry that’s collecting dust, and self publishing costs money, from what I hear. I firmly believe that one should not have to pay money to make money. Some investments may be worthwhile, but it’s rare.
Articles like these may not make me rich, but they do give me a sense of self worth. I suppose doing a little work is better than nothing at all. As Ghandi said “Whatever you do will be insignificant, but it is very important that you do it.” It’s that feeling of striving towards a goal that keeps me going, and it excites me to know that some of what I say may be inspirational to others. I also however, make it a point to read as much as, if not more than, what I write. The ideas you put into your mind are just as important, if not more significant than what one puts out into the world.
The only other job I can see as being more significant than an author, a poet, a musician, or an artist, would be anything in the medical field. Or possibly a fireman. Anyone who saves lives in one form or another. One who lives in the moment. I guess that’s what this article is about. Helping people to live in the moment. I can only hope that I inspire somebody out there to make a piece of art. Or take up writing like I have. Anything new is worth the risk……..trust me.
