Tips on Annotating a Book

These are a few tips on annotating a book.

Annotating is an important part of schoolwork. I am not going to say that I am an expert, but here are some helpful tips on annotating.

  1. Don’t over work yourself: one of the most important parts about annotating is not to overwork yourself. If you are required to do 3-5 annotations per chapter for a book, do not do 3-5 annotations per page unless they are all valuable annotations. Teachers look at how well annotations are, they do not care about the amount as much. If you have the time to do more then the required amount per chapter then go for it, if you find yourself doing crappy annotations, then go for a smaller amount of well written annotations.
  2. Never look at the clock: when you look at the clock, you will find yourself complaining about how long the work is doing. Make sure you focus on annotating. Afterall, it does not matter what time it is, you still have annotations to do.
  3. Take short breaks: If you find that annotating takes 3 hours to do, then a good thing to do is to take a short break in-between. Eat some food, get a drink, just do not do anything that can distract you from work. This will let you become fresh when you annotate.
  4. Turn off all distractions: Common distractions include TV, Friends, and anything on the computer. Make sure you do not look at any of these for they can make you lose your concentration. Instead, think about how when you are done that you can do these things freely. This will stimulate your mind to work faster, just make sure you still work harder too.
  5. Do hand exercises: After a while of annotating, your hands will begin to cramp up. To avoid this, do hand exercises every 20 minutes or so. Make sure the exercise is no more then one minute and that it will not distract you too muck.

Well that is my overview on annotating. Hope this article helped you.
