I use to rack my brains for something to write about. Not anymore.
In the last few days, I have had all kinds of epiphanies. I don’t know why that is, but here’s another one I would like to share with you.
Hello hello hello, my brother and sister writers. We writers need writing ideas and we need lots of them. It seems that I have tapped a reservoir of ideas for articles that I didn’t know I had in me. Now I’m talking non-fiction. Coming up with a good idea for a flash fiction story is still an event. I think it’s because I have to make things up and then the things I make up have to be placed in the form of a short story and the story has to make sense.

That’s why my ratio of flash fiction stories to articles might be as high as 1 to 50.
Writing an article is totally different. I think what makes it different, at least for me, is that I don’t have to make anything up. I mean it’s as if all the raw material is there on the floor and I just have to pick it up. Take for instance this article.
I was trying to figure out what the article should be about when I realized the article should be about trying to figure out what the article should be about. Well, it was a short jump from that to “This is How I keep The Writing Ideas Flowing.”
I’m sitting at my workstation. The television is tuned to the Public Broadcasting System and there is a show on about sandwiches and the history of the sandwich. After I finish this article I’m going to go to my blog and post a link to it. You see what I mean? You can throw any old thing into an article as long as it illustrates what the article is about.
I’m getting tired. I’ve been blogging and writing all day. If this is the last article I post today, it won’t be because I ran out of ideas. It’ll be because I’m just tired.
I hope this article gives you some insight into your own process of keeping the writing ideas flowing.
This is the Old Soldier reporting from Pittsburgh.

I have ideas for fiction and poetry, but have a hard time getting them down. I am trying very hard to write a poem and a short story, I have no problem with non fiction.I am working on writing a book. I have ideas but just can’t get the ideas out.

Knows what you mean and can identify with it all. Some days Im all topiced out and frustrated beyond belief. Then on other days the ideas flow and flow where I can find something worth writing about. With my recent piece, all I did was think of an old love letter I found and it turned out to be a newly published piece.Inspiration can be found in the most unusual place.

Having flow of ideas is really my problem. Sometimes, I cannot write because I run out of ideas. This article helps me a bit.

I am surprised sometimes how I continue to come up with ideas to write again. I need to go as I am so tired.
