Things Not to Do While Writing Articles

Some actions are just not profitable for you. Read some of my experiences to avoid wasting time and money learning it the hard way.

You need to know that while working for money online there are just some things that are just not worth doing, they will not give you the results you are looking for. This article will point you some actions you might be doing that even if they were good in the past, in the very day they are not a good thing to do. In business language, they are not profitable!

1. Submitting your article to networks. If you are going to waste your time with this, I must warn you not to do it. You will get less than one visitor per network on average. Only Stumble Upon gives you some results but now with all the sites inside it, competition is too tough to make a profit. Leave this to your readers. If you have your own blog you should really leave the buttons there, write good articles and leave the readers to do this for you.

2. Worrying too much about tags. Tags are very useful for social networks but not for search engines which are the only thing that deliver you the most traffic. Tags are not really that important nor they have a vital role in your success as an online writer. Just add a couple of tags quickly or leave your Wordpress to do this for you.

3. Most of your traffic will come only from 3 places: Your own domain when people type your URL or access your website from a bookmark, the search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing, and finally from links from other websites. You should really try to optimize your articles for these three kinds of traffic.

4. Focus on the reader because he is the real money in your article. No readers, no clicks, no sales, no impressions.

5. You should really pay attention to the length of your article. If you write too much in the same page, the reader will go away, if you write to little he will go away too… Too bad, what can you do? Write the right amount of content per page. Never write more than 3000 characters in one page. It’s better to write the rest of the content in other pages and link to them. You will get more page views too.

6. Do not care about search engine that much. Just write natural because they are already advanced enough to sniff automated content and keyword spamming pages.

7. Do not overflow your articles with ads, buttons, 3rd party tools or content.

8. Do not make your page look like a big site or portal like Yahoo. The less things your page has, the longer your visitor will stay around. Too much content/information will just send the user away, it hurts the eyes.
