Get back to your “writing wroots”.
This article aims at bringing you back to the roots and reasons as to why you write. Print it out, fill in the blanks and focus on the raison d’être of why you write
You want to write, you have the urge to write but do you know why? Have you ever wondered where you desire to pen words comes from. I have been writing for years but it was only recently, when I realized that not many can do it, that I pulled myself up and questioned, “Why do I write?”
· I found there were a few reasons:
· I won lots of awards for it at school
· I like it a lot
· I learned to type
· I was published in a book
· I published my own book
· I love it
Write your reason or reasons in this space below –
I write because:
Writers work for a living. Poets, as a Russian Proverb goes, “Plants Gold and Reaps Lead.” Do you want to be a professional writer? Is it your hobby? Where does writing fit into the bigger scope of your days? I mix it – sometimes I write for pleasure, as a profession and most of all for fun! Fill in the space below as to the reason for all this literary activity –
The reasons that I write are:
Writing recipes, journals, blogs, poetry, prosody, poesy, poems, literature, stories, tales, sports articles, limericks, haikus, cautionary tales, anecdotes, comments, essays, articles etc, etc . I write many styles and many things but most of all I put it all in writing.
Why not list a few types of writing that you do:
I love setting goals. They give me something to strive for. My goal for this year, regarding writing, is, ‘I want, 1 x Book Published, by June the 6th, 2009 at 9pm.
Pen a goal or two for your writing here:
That’s all, “Pensters.” I hope this article helped you focus on why you write and assisted you to look forward to a fabulous future as a literary monster.
Keep Going!

I am sure I read this aticle and commented yesterday. Did you delete my comment Jamie boy? No, I know you didn’t. I guess it didn’t take and I didn’t notice. Anyway you have a great idea and gave me something to think about.I do have cartons of journals and notebooks of the written word I have done over the years. I sort them out from time to time and discard.

Great advice. I can somehow relate to what you’re saying here.

Lol @ Clay. I spend more time on commenting than on writing my stuff, too. haha!
J, I’m not sure if I really have the gift for writing (is it a gift?). I write because I sometimes want to simply write, maybe it has become a hobby. I thought it’s a great avenue to polish my English or to oil my rather rusty brain, being a stay-at-home mom I need get this brain going. I was a better writer back in school. Somehow Ive become addicted to Triond that I’ve to set goals.
