The character of an Author is a steely and stellar interior and exterior.
The character of an accomplished author is gratifying to see. I was fortunate enough to see an author on a television program today. He happened to pass on his own secret, which is really a work ethic as he has mentioned before. “having bum glued to seat”. he said. In reality he mentioned in agreement that he would stay in that chair writing away six days a week, until the story in completed. Now I have seen that work ethic mentioned before, even if it is broken into short stories until completed. I recall reading a small book of short stories, which was about writing articles that sell and that was a constant work in progress. First the idea, then selecting a market. Then, writing a letter of introduction with your plan rather than sending it out cold to the market or publisher. In the instances revealed there may be scope for photographs and a technical view of the camera itself. I happened to See a woman when I shopped at the market and saw her pull out a camera from a shopping trolley. It looked expensive with it’s attached lens and zoom control or so it seemed. I am more into the compact type with its zoom and really great window view to keep or delete. There is scope to edit your work times over and not give out the first draft with red marks and corrections and amendments in progress. There are authors I am familiar with that have their quirks and characteristics such as a crime writer who taped the writings and heard them out loud, whilst others laboured at their desk for hour and days on end.The ability to brainstorm is valuable and the ability to make sense out of it all is essential, depending on the writing style. Finding a market for the work varies with the topics covered as well as it’s important not to look too far ahead as in money capital. Rather, look at being published in a small way first and build a folio to speak of and perhaps join a workshop or community group to keep it turning over. It can be a good idea to write what you know about and when you do not research it to the best of your potential, or prepare the draft and refine it as per guidelines you attune to. Yes I do have favourite authors most like other people. I especially liked the ones we would study in school as in a classroom where a book would be a topic as it would be subject matter we would need to know for our external essay examination. I found these authors and their books to be great as we dug into the story and the language and also looked at how the author came about to deliver his/her story some had multiple books while others would have written their first one. The class feedback is something that I have always missed as it could hardly be replicated to the importance of essays at that time. Join as many book clubs as you want, yet they never measure up to that time of heart wrenching energy. All in all the author and his work is personal and never ending until it has concluded then the critical side that is subdued must be endured and not taken personally but being resilient per the editing cycle goes.
