Today, I came to the stunning conclusion that I see more and more of my fellow Triond writers joining Factoidz and that I am less busy on here on Triond as well. Here some reasons why activity from Triond is going to Factoidz.
Both Triond and Factoidz are web content publishing sites, that allow writers from all over the world to publish articles online that are original and not being published before.
But here is where the story ends. Triond has a system of publishing the articles on satellite websites, where they believe they will get more traffic.
Since many starting writers use Triond, they have to learn to promote their articles themselves. Now I found out that if I tweet a Triond article, it barely gets views.
I tweeted and retweeted all my Factoidz articles, also those of a few months old, since I started there. Somehow I noticed I was soon getting back some views on them.
I have to admit, I make much more views on Factoidz and also much more income. Much more, relative this, since I cannot even pay my Internet bill from my monthly earnings online.
When you get an average of 55 views a day on over 200 articles and less than 2 dollar a month, you may guess why many who can write decent researched informative or helpful articles, might not publish them on Triond, where they will get lesser views and lesser pay than on Factoidz. It is not all researched factional content, I do publish some poetry and creative writing here as well, just for the fun of it.
On Factoidz, I on average have between 200 and 400 views a day on less than 90 articles and when I tweeted all my older stuff, that still seemed relevant, I gained over a thousand views a day with still less than 90 articles. I do admit I only publish researched and/or factional articles there, since they do not allow creative content so far.
Last month I made nearly 6 dollar on Factoidz, while I made less than 2 on Triond.
You may understand that for a writer that does like to invest time and efforts in writing great academic content, his choice might be made where to put an informative article.
I also tried to rewrite myself as an experiment and found out that I get five times more views on an article based on the same content on Factoidz than on Triond.
Does this mean I am saying Triond goodbye? No, I am still here, but I do understand it might become more a site for creative writers and will lose credibility as an informative site, since there is the Factoidz competition.
Well, I do consider it great that there is a healthy competition for web publishing writing communities, so in the long run, they have to keep their writers happy, or they lose them.
Writers are the ambassadors of a site and the employees they should cherish. Because well-read and well promoted articles that are worth reading and inspiring, might also benefit the reputation of a site.
So Triond is indeed not a website for serious academic writers, while these are the ones searched for. It still remains a good website were you can post blog style opinion pieces, poetry and creative writing to share, but do not think you will earn from it.
Triond is more a website you should love for the community and the atmosphere than for the purpose of being read.
But as stated: this is my experience on the matter. Some writers might have more luck on Triond.

I am both here and Factoidz as well. I am still with Triond for shorter and Poetry posts. While with Factoidz, I write for longer and factual articles. Yes, you are right with Triond – Twitter promotion, there seems no effect in Tweeting my Triond articles.

I agree with you on this Martine.

Just check the same number of views after two or three months. If the views fall down drastically with time then there is no special advantage with Factoidz.

Yes, it seems like that.
