The How to be a “Millionaire Blogger Syndrome”

My experience of new Triond writers and the "Millionaire Bloggers Syndrome"

The I want to be a “Millionaire Blogger Syndrome”

I have been Blogging or writing as I call it on “Triond” only since September 2009.  I have been writing “Articles” or “Short Stories” some call them “Flash Fiction” since school days.   I had two short stories published in our school magazine and that was that I was hooked on writing.  My professional career took a very different path I was a successful Motor Mechanic for many years until Ill health terminated my chosen profession.

I decided to write in my spare time and I was given a very elderly electric type writer, however it did have an erasure tape on it for my many spelling mistakes!  I used to write short stories and parodies on books such as “Mills and Boon” my friends enjoyed these humorous send-ups.

As anyone who has written before will tell you that your friends will say your work is good even if it isn’t!  They don’t want to offend you.  Time moved on and I moved around the country but I carried on writing the best that I could.

To cut a very long story short I amassed a modest portfolio of short stories.  I put them into categories and decided to find an outlet for my work. I purchased “The Writers Guide” which is a very expensive (I might add) list of publishing houses world-wide.  This guide is updated every year so you have to purchase another one else you could be sending your work to a closed office!

I tried U.K. publishers of “Sci-Fi” and “Historical Fiction” and American publishing houses and African publishing houses.  I frankly can paper my entire house in rejection letters!  I then enrolled in a correspondence course in “Creative Writing” through a well established U.K. publisher.  That didn’t help either, I had very good reviews from my tutor who could see of no reason what-so ever why I had not been published.

I took a break from writing and was persuaded to enrol on Triond and try to earn some money that way.  I have found the process enjoyable and the format of sending through articles is painless with only a one in ten “Please revise content” notice.  However as for money?  I like you, probably watch my earnings every month creep up to a dollar or maybe two!

That figure of one to two Dollars is firmly where its stuck for me.  Now if you earn substantially more than that good for you and I mean it.  I enjoy the writing community and reading other writers take on the world.

The reason why I’m writing this is the  “Millionaire Blogging Syndrome”  you must be aware of it or maybe you still believe in it?  I’ll explain I receive perhaps three or four requests from writers all round the world on Triond, who want to be my friend if I look at their work they will look at mine.  In other words you show me yours and I’ll show you mine!

Seriously I always except the invitation and I do look at their work as often as I can.  Its very obvious to me the new writer looks at the top blogs on the Triond dashboard and copies the theme.  Without exception the new Triond members article will be “How to become a Blogging Millionaire”  or perhaps  “10 ways to double your Blogging income” or perhaps “How to get search engines to pick your work first”

Now I don’t know if you read them?  I used to, now I half close one eye and speed read the article. The articles are the same old tips reworded, perhaps recommending numerous different Blogger accounts or trying to get automated hits (Triond don’t allow this)  Its all heated up old tips, that in my limited experience do not work.

The other trap first time Triond writers do is return to the top blog list.  Then they write an article on  “A Celebrity is Dead” of course the catch is the celebrity is alive and well and probably not very happy you said he or she is dead!

The usual time period before one of these “Millionaire Bloggers”  To leave Triond is approximately two to six weeks!  I know because I check and I go into “Community” and check my friends work regularly and I notice one month after they join they leave.  They have not published anything for weeks then months.

I don’t want this article to sound negative I still write on Triond everyday including Sundays.  Where ever I am if I think of an idea for a Blog or article I write it down in my mobile phone and write the article as soon as I can.  I also do research my material rather than rehash someone’s left over’s.

It may amuse you to check new comers longevity on Triond and their content see if I’m right? Or maybe I’m completely wrong and the new comers have made their millions and are kicking on the beach in the Caribbean! In which case ignore this article.
