Is the hot content list really as simple as it seems? The answer is no.
Triond’s hot content list has been a source of curiosity to me in the month that I have been on the site. It seems to be confusing to others as well, and I hope my observations and guesses will help others as well.
Many seem to be confused about how articles that get thousand of views get overlooked for the content list. It seems to me that the list isn’t generated simply by the amount of views, likes and comments you get, but rather by how well written the article is, if the article is something people will read and, of course, if the article will generate enough money. I rarely ever see the lower paying articles, like creative writing, on the list. Instead, it seems to be articles about subjects that have valuable key words attached.

We must remember that Triond is a corporation, and the sole goal of any corporation is to make money. Articles about your favorite pillow will not get on to the list, unless you put a spin on to it and make it a satire. Triond’s goal is to make as much money as they can, while remaining fair to us. From what I have seen, I don’t believe that the whole process of selecting articles for the hot content list is automated. While an algorithm may be used to select the possible articles, I think that it is a process of HUMAN selection that determines whether the article makes it onto the list, not just a computer program.
Every single article I have read has been deserving of its place on the list. The authors that appear on there appear again because they can write well about a subject that they know about, and therefore generate income for the company as a whole. This is only a theory, however, and not a factual account of how these articles are chosen. If you are vying for a place on the list, my advice would be to keep trying, and to improve your writing as much as you can.
The best of luck to all aspiring writers out there!

Well written , but you need 2 observe the hot content list a little more because I personally witnessed some junk on there, and triond regulars in protest, gave the article numerous i likes and comments. Some stuff is obviously not good enough to be kindergarten writing. That said, I Know I aint the best, but we are all amateurs, some more than others.

What a great article – I often wondered how articles ended up on the Hot Content list, it’s almost as if you were reading my thoughts!
