As a professional writer and frequent writer for online publishing site Triond, here’s a little about my realistic goal of $15 per month.
As many of you who read my work may know, I have been a member of Triond since early 2008 and have published a lot of photographs and articles across genres. I am currently aiming at a realistic goal of $15 per month. It is still a quite small amount, but most Triond members I talk to are earning less than $1 and very few people I know earn more than $5 per month including myself.
There are a variety of ways to increase viewership to your sites and pages as mentioned in my recently published article Five Tips to Multiply Your Triond Earnings.
The inspiration for this goal, however, was reading another writer’s goal of 1000 articles. I thought about it, and actually, until now I never really had any goal for my online writing work. I was just writing for fun, to vent my ideas and hopefully make new friends, learn interesting things and earn a few pennies along the way. Reading that article though made me wonder if I should create a goal as such, but before I could accept that ambitious milestone of 1000 articles published online, I began to wonder whether that is what my goal should be.
I thought about the matter for quite a while, and analyzed that actually just getting 1000 articles published should not be the goal of any writer. Rather, you should aspire to publish articles you are proud of, articles that are meaningful and helpful, articles that help people think better, articles that inspire people in the right direction. Of course, if you do write and publish work as such which people will benefit from even if they are reading subconsciously, you are very likely to get a lot of views – but that should be the secondary or even tertiary purpose.
I have always aspired to write only premium quality work as a lot of the articles and blogs I find online may be written in great English but are meaningless, derogatory or a mere waste of time to read for practically all purposes. Always remember to do good work, in everything, and you will not only find yourself much happier but also more successful.
I hope you find this article motivating and inspiring, and I hope it benefits all your future work.

I think it’s important to set goals, I currently only have 6 articles written. My biggest challenge is English itself. Learning grammar and learning how to write in a manner that’s easy to read. I have always wanted to be a writer and I’m excited at the chance to be able write and have people read what I have to say. I have an article that just hit 6000 views in six months, and it’s a really great feeling to know that I have to put something out there that has touched that many people. So my goal is write successful articles that get out to 5000 people. I hope to maybe get to 100 articles by the end of the year but I’m not sure how realistic that is.

Thanks for the reference to my article about reaching the goal of 1000 articles

Hopefully my articles are more than just getting published. I write only when something inspires me to do so. Hopefully people think my articles are well written and worth reading. However, I’m an addicted goal setter and like to have something to aim for, since money is certainly not the inspiration here.
I am humbled by the number of Triond writers who have taken on my 1000 goal and either openly committed to it, or like yourself and several others, written supplementing articles.
All the best in reaching your writing goals, Val
